But this was neither the time nor the place to argue about this.

“You and what army, asshole?”

“One week, Jelly Fish.”

The sound of a throat clearing had us both turning around, and I blinked at the boy in front of us. Were there children here? What the fuck?

“Hi,” he said.

“Hi, Diego,” my girl turned and faced the newcomer, ignoring my ass.

“How did you recognize me?”

“I have an excellent memory.”

“You do? Well, OK. Thank you for saving my mom and me.”

Did he just say my girl saved him? When was this?

“Not a problem. If it can make you feel better, I wouldn’t have hurt her even if they threatened me with solitaire again.”

What the hell????? Lucy, you have a lot of explaining to do.

“Kid?”

“His name is Diego.”

“Sorry, Diego, mind telling me what you’re talking about?”

“Orion saved my mom and me. The guards wanted her to show her skills by having her fight us. She refused, instead she beat up another fighter.”

“When was this?”

“Right before you got here. I’m surprised you didn’t catch the tail end of the fight.”

“Let me guess, she chose the biggest one?”

“Yes, he was three times her size!” the kids said excitedly.

Of course she would. I’ve trained with Sarah. She was a vicious little thing. She also forgot she was the size of an ant.

Diego should thank the universe my wife refused to fight him. Cause if she had, he would be kissing his maker right about now.

“You’re welcome, Diego. Maybe you can return the favor and show us around?”

“Of course.” Diego whispered something in his mother’s ear, and she nodded before leaving us.

“This is the yard. In here is the cantina. Breakfast is served at 7, lunch is at noon and supper is at 6PM. If you’re late, you don’t eat.” We followed the kid as he showed us around.

“Do you know where they keep the electronics?”

That’s my girl. One track mind that one.

“Why would you want to know this?”

“No reason.”

Right. None whatsoever, she was simply asking that question to pass time.
