“I think we can have a deal ready to sign by the end of the night. I know it’s late, but I have to get on a plane tomorrow morning and I’ll be gone for two weeks. I’d like to get this settled as soon as possible.”

I felt the same way. “No problem. I’ll see you in the office in a half hour.”

“Great. I’m going to enjoy doing business with you.”

“You too, sir.”

I grabbed my coat out of the closet as I sent a message to my driver. There was so much I had to work out with Fletcher after I made this deal, but most of the details on my end were already in place. The elevator dinged, announcing Rose’s arrival home.

Her face fell as she got off the elevator, but I didn’t have time to explain what I was doing. This was our future on the line.

“You’re leaving?”

“I have to go back to the office. I probably won’t be home tonight.”

“But I have news. I got to take the lead on a project today, and I secured a very good contract.”

“That’s great,” I answered quickly, pressing a kiss to her cheek. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”

I rushed into the elevator before it closed and headed downstairs. Tonight, I would start the final stage of ending this ridiculous project. In a few more months, I would have everything finalized, that’s if I could convince Fletcher to buy the company. I wouldn’t say a word to Rose until everything was signed. There were too many risks that something might go wrong. I had no idea what kind of interference I would meet from my father or the Wallace family. If I played my cards right, we would all come out on top with this deal. Then they would release Rose and me from this contract, and we’d be free to live our lives.

I could already hear the beach waves lapping on the shoreline, and see Rose standing on the porch of our house. Things were about to change for the better, and Rose and I would finally get the future we’d always wanted.

The contracts were signed.Tossing the pen on the table, I stood and smiled at Anderson Ford, holding out my hand to him. “I look forward to working with you.”

“You drive a hard bargain,” he sighed, “but I think this is the right move for the company. Let me know when you’re ready to work on expansion.”

I had no plans to have anything to do with that, but I wasn’t about to tell him I was selling off the company as soon as possible. I felt slightly bad about deceiving him like this, but my life was on the line. “Will do. You’d better go or you’re going to miss your flight.”

“They can’t leave without the boss,” he laughed.

He walked out of my office and Alisha strolled in with a fresh cup of coffee, setting it down on my desk. “I figured you’d need this.”

“Thank you, Alisha.” I grabbed the coffee and took a sip, sighing as I sat down in my chair and leaned back. I loosened my tie, wishing I could just go home and sleep. “You should take today off.”

She snorted in amusement. “You’re funny. We have appointments starting in three hours. You should go home and shower.”

I looked down at my rumpled clothes and agreed. “Yeah, I’ll be back in time for the meeting with…”

I looked up at her, catching her amused smile. “Simon,” she answered.

“Right. That should be fun.”

“Don’t forget you have dinner with both yours and Rose’s parents tonight.”

I groaned, standing from my seat. “Just one fucking night, I’d like to myself.”

“Not until you push this deal through,” she grinned. “I can’t wait for the beach.”

“Me too.”

“Is Rose excited?”

“I haven’t told her about it yet.”

“Why not?”
