“The company needs to be passed down to someone in the family. This is a standard stipulation.”

“Yeah, I know a lot of contracts that force the consummation of marriage.”

“What exactly did you think you would do? Marry the girl, but live somewhere else? Live an entirely separate life?”

I had hoped for that at the very least, but it was clear I had grossly underestimated my father and John Wallace. “And what if there are no kids?”

“Surely you can stand to fuck a woman long enough to produce two heirs.”

“Plenty of people aren’t able to have kids.”

“Would you like me to add further stipulations to the contract?” he smirked. “Perhaps fertility tests before you’re married?”

Sighing, I could see I had no way out of this. Marrying her was inevitable, but to get six months to myself would be a small dose of happiness for what was about to come. Because I knew that we wouldn’t be getting a divorce after five years. How could I possibly have children and then put them through a divorce just to get out of living with their mother? Nothing about this would be pleasant, but if I married Kimberley, I intended to make it work to the best of my ability.

“Get me the contract. I want to read through it first.”

“Of course,” he said with a glint in his eyes, knowing he won.

“And if I hear from you before the six months is up, I will back out of the contract. I don’t care what happens to your company. Do you understand me?”

He nodded. “I’ll make sure the exact dates are entered into the contract. But if you return even one day late, I’ll have my own stipulations. And you won’t like them.”
