“James, I need you to know something.”

“What?”

“I really hope…you were serious about me staying with you, because I just missed my flight.”

He chuckled, kissing the palm of my hand before kissing me on the lips. “We should probably get out of here.”

He sat up, the warmth of his body leaving made me chilly even in the heat. I could lay here and stare at his muscles all day, but he was right, we needed to get out.

But just as I was getting up to take a quick shower, I thought of something. “James, your wife…is she going to come down here?”

He shook his head. “She doesn’t even know where I am, and even if she did, we don’t have that kind of marriage.”

I wasn’t sure that made me feel better exactly, but it was good enough for now. We both understood the consequences when we started this, and I wasn’t about to give him up after he just begged me to stay.

“I’m going to take a shower really quick.”

“Want me to join you?” he smirked.

“I think that would defeat the purpose of making this quick.”

“So, you want me to smell like you.”

I flushed a little, because that was exactly why I hadn’t showered this morning, so I could smell like him. “You can take a shower after me.”

He rolled his eyes at the suggestion, following me into the bathroom despite my objection. To his credit, he didn’t try anything. Not really. His hands were all over me, soaping me up, but he never tried to take it further. By the time we were finished, I wasn’t sure if I felt clean or dirtier.

Stepping out of the shower, I quickly dried off, dropping my towel in front of him just for the fun of it. At his groan, I turned back to him and cocked my head innocently. “Is something wrong?”

“Woman, put on some damn clothes or we’re not leaving any time soon.”

I laughed and pulled on a clean dress and then some underwear. I didn’t bother with a bra because it was already too damn hot. As I picked up my dirty clothes, I caught James’s eyes locked on my chest and the low grumble that left his throat. He would just have to deal with it.

“Rose,” he said tightly. “You don’t seriously expect to go back to my house and walk around Shane without wearing a bra, do you?”

I quirked an eyebrow at him. “Why? Do you think he would stare?”

Based on the way his eyes narrowed, he was really worried about this. I walked past him and put my clothes in my luggage, looking around once more for anything I may have left behind.

“You’re really not putting on a bra?”

I turned around, trying to hide my smile from him. “I’m really not. It’s hot as blue blazes already, and wearing a bra is really uncomfortable.”

I walked past him, leaving my luggage for him. I knew he would take it from me anyway. I flung the door open and walked outside, my jaw nearly dropping when I saw Clarissa leaning against a cab door.

“Yeah, you forgot I was going to the airport with you, didn’t you?”

“Um…”

“Let me guess, there’s been a change of plans.” She sighed and paid the cabbie, then took her luggage from the ground and walked over to James’s Jeep. “Well, I missed my flight, so it looks like I’m staying with you for the night.”

“You can stay with Shane,” James grumbled.

“Or I can do that,” she winked, like that was her plan all along. “Let’s get this Jeep moving. If we stay out here much longer, Rose’s tits will be a circus attraction.”

“I told you,” James said as he walked around me to help me in the Jeep.
