“It is nice.” Rebecca’s dreamy expression had yet to fade. “I just hope we’re not rushing things, moving in together so fast.”

Amanda shrugged and reached for a slice of cheese. “James and I moved in together after six weeks.”

“I didn’t know that,” Olivia said.

“We’d have gotten married then, too, but I made him wait.” She looked at Rebecca. “Don’t worry about what people will think. If it feels right, go with it. But I do advise keeping your own bank account.”

“You and James don’t combine finances?” Olivia asked.

Amanda picked up her wine. “We have a joint account for shared expenses, like the mortgage, vacations, things like that, that we both put money into every month. But my paycheck, meager though it may be, goes into an account in my name.”

“How’s that work with your D/s dynamic?” Sadie asked, settling onto the couch next to Rebecca.

“Our D/s is mostly related to sex or play,” Amanda explained, “and we keep it out of the money end of things on purpose. I need to be his equal there.”

Olivia had a frown on her pretty face. “Don’t you trust him?”

“Of course, I do.” Amanda leaned back in her chair, wine in hand. “But I’m also a realist. James understands. His mom really struggled financially after his parents split up, mostly because his dad was a complete asshole about it. But it made him hyper aware of how much more power a man can have, even now. He insisted we have a prenup, and had it drafted specifically to make sure if we split up that I get an equal share of all marital assets, even though he makes more money and contributes more.” She smiled. “He says he doesn’t want any power I don’t freely give him, anyway.”

“But isn’t that like planning for a divorce?” Olivia asked over the chorus of sighs.

“Not any more than buying car insurance is planning for an accident,” she replied. “It’s a just-in-case measure. I doubt I’ll ever need it, but I’m happy that it’s there nonetheless.”

“Smart,” Rebecca agreed as Olivia continued to frown. “Nick and I are keeping our finances separate for now. I told him if we ever decided to make things official, we’d revisit it.”

“You brought up marriage?” Sadie nearly choked on her wine. “What’d he say to that?”

Rebecca smirked. “He said, ‘fine, but we’re keeping ‘obey’ in the vows’ and bent me over the back of the couch.”

Sadie sighed. “Dammit, that’s kind of romantic.”

“It was,” Rebecca agreed, the dreamy look back on her face.

Amanda laughed and raised her glass. “Here’s to romance.”

“To romance,” the others chorused, and clinked glasses.

“Speaking of which,” Sadie put in. “I want to hear more about the Shame Game.”

“Oh, me too,” Rebecca said gleefully. “Besides all the awesome orgasms, how’s it going?”

“It’s going good,” Amanda replied, smiling at the eager faces turned her way. Except Olivia, who still wore a faint frown. “We’re having fun.”

“I don’t think I could do humiliation play,” Sadie put in. “Not at that level. That scene the other night looked intense.”

“It was,” Amanda assured her. “But in a good way.”

“Sorry, I’m not caught up,” Rebecca put in. “This is kind of an experiment, right? To see how you like erotic humiliation?”

“More or less,” Amanda replied. “I mean, I think it’s safe to say I definitely like it at this point. But…”

“But?” Sadie prompted.

“It’s a matter of degrees for me.” Amanda pursed her lips and searched for the right words. “Some of the things we’ve done have hardly been humiliating at all.”

“Like?”

Amanda turned to Olivia. “Like the puppy play.”
