“Wait.” Rebecca held up a hand. “You didn’t find puppy play humiliating?”

“Not really. It was fun, kind of silly. Well, except for the peeing part.”

“The peeing part?” Olivia echoed.

“Puppies do not use toilets,” Amanda told her soberly, then burst out laughing at the look of horror on her friend’s face. “It really wasn’t that bad.”

“How did you do it?” Sadie wanted to know.

“We have that big walk-in shower in our bathroom,” Amanda said with a shrug. “So, I just crawled in there and peed.”

Olivia still looked horrified. “And that wasn’t humiliating?”

“Oh, it was,” Amanda assured her. “Especially at first. I’ve discovered when it comes to peeing, I very much want to remain human.”

Sadie raised a hand. “Same.”

“But James…he made it okay.” She smiled softly as she remembered. “He didn’t snap or yell or scold. He just waited, patiently, and I could see he was proud of me.”

“Proud of you for peeing,” Sadie put in, deadpan, and Amanda laughed.

“Yeah, like any Dom would be proud of a submissive for doing something hard and out of their comfort zone.”

“Huh.”

Amanda looked at Rebecca. “What?”

“It’s just…that’s kind of romantic, too.”

Amanda nodded in perfect understanding. “Yeah, it is.”

“I need more wine,” Olivia muttered, and rose from the floor to go into the kitchen.

Amanda stared after her. “Is she all right?”

Sadie lowered her voice. “I think she’s having some problems with Kyle, but she won’t talk about it. I’ve tried, she just shakes me off.”

“I don’t like them together,” Rebecca murmured. “I know I’m new around here and I can’t put my finger on why, but I just don’t like it.”

“Me neither,” Amanda said. “I wish Cade would get off his butt and make a move already.”

“You think Cade is into her?” Rebecca’s eyes were wide. “I mean, I know they’re friends, but do you think there’s more to it than that?”

“He wants there to be,” Sadie put in. She darted a glance at the kitchen doorway. “I overheard him say something to Jack once.”

“What?” Amanda leaned forward. “When?”

“Last October, at the monthly party. I was coming out of the bathroom, and they were in that little alcove we use for storage, and didn’t see me. Bottom line? He’d move on her in a heartbeat if she was single, but he won’t trespass. As long as she’s with Kyle, he’s keeping his distance.”

“Damn,” Rebecca muttered.

Sadie looked at the kitchen doorway again. “They hang out all the time, though, so I have hope. You know how they’re in the same gaming group together?”

Amanda nodded. “Yeah.”

“Well, I keep thinking one day they’ll look at each other over the dice and just rip each other’s clothes off.”

Rebecca snorted. “That’s asking a lot of a pair of dice.”
