The top skims against her backside, brushing darkness against her pale skin and ripples over her as she turns back to the rest of the room. She glances to the sofa and then to me. And I hold my breath.

When the mist of her eyes meets mine I don’t look away. I think I might want to, but I can’t.

I watch as her mouth opens in a small o and her hands fly to the hem of the T-shirt, tugging it lower.

She doesn’t look away from me though.

She just stands there and, despite every cell in my body screaming for me not to, I move carefully. Despite every whispered warning and every insult thrown, despite every second of history I know we can’t erase, there’s something I want to do. Something I’ve wanted to do for what feels like a lifetime.

Mikaela

I swallow as Ben gets to his feet, heat flaming in my cheeks as his eyes rake over my body, and he takes a step forwards.

His eyes remain glued to me, intrigue swimming in the brilliance of the blue, and, with every painfully slow step that brings him closer to me, another surge of adrenaline and fear mixes and melts in my veins. Blood rushes behind my ears - a flooding, screaming noise - as he stops at the foot of the stairs.

I don’t know why I’m not moving.

I don’t know why neither of us are speaking.

I don’t know why it suddenly feels like I’m eighteen again.

He swallows hard before taking those steps towards me, and I don’t think I’m breathing.

With the gentlest of touches he trails his fingers across the side of my neck, pushing stray tendrils of hair back, his eyes following his fingertips, and my body ignites.

“What are you doing?” I whisper, my eyes trained on his lips as he smiles with an innocence that doesn’t seem to match the moment.

“Testing a theory,” he breathes.

I don’t pull away. I don’t flinch. My breathing becomes heavier and his other hand moves to my hips, his fingers digging into my skin with delicious pain as he pulls me closer, pinning me against him.He leans in, his breath fanning my skin, and my eyes flutter closed as his lips brush against my jaw with a feather touch.

I’m dreaming.I have to be dreaming.

“Ben.” My hands are pressed against his chest. His pulse is racing beneath my palm. I can’t think beyond the heat of his lips.

I wrap my fingers around his T-shirt and tilt my head automatically, allowing him access as he presses soft touches into every point of contact. He kisses my skin as if I am fragile, as if I might disappear in a cloud of smoke if he applies any pressure, and my heart sputters. He kisses me as if he sees me -all of me.His lips dance over my skin and his fingertips press into the nape of my neck as he moves to my lips.

And it isvolcanic.

I can’t think straight as heat pools in my core when his tongue swipes at my lips, coaxing them open, and we’re a clash of teeth and lips and tongues. His fingers press into my skin and I can’t be sure I’m not hallucinating the rush of pleasure as I moan with his touch.

Ben

Electricity sparks in my chest as I feel the silk of her lips against mine. I’ve only had one hit and I never want to stop.

My tongue swipes, tasting her, and the soft whimper that sounds from her lips leaves me aching for more.

I want her.

I have wanted her for so long.

Her hand moves to my hair, twisting, as my own slips down her body with tantalisingly slow precision. Every inch of her responds with delicious shivers as I touch her and I want more.

When she moans, I smile against her lips. My grip tightens and my hands move to cup her ass. When she gasps, I deepen the kiss; pulling on her lip with my teeth when she hesitates. I can feel her pulse racing as she groans and wraps around me, her tongue tasting me, her inhibitions melting away.

I lift her swiftly, my fingers gripping her thighs and her legs wrapping around my waist, as I move. My mind is lost in her, in the illusion of it all.

With her in my arms, the ache in me screaming for attention, I try to navigate the unfamiliar space and my hip crashes into something hard. The damn rail on her bed. I grunt in pain, my lips never leaving hers as a bubble of laughter escapes her andfuck, I don’t think I could have ever imagined how my body would respond to that. I need her.
