GENEVIEVE

“Idon’t know, baby,” Gage grumbles as I huff and sit back in my chair. They are second-guessing everything on this hit, worried for me. They are concerned I’m going to break down, but that asshole got enough of my tears. He gets no more.

“His townhouse is perfect,” I argue. “If he has anything, he will have it stashed there, not at my place or even at the bank. It’s the one place he trusts.”

Archer debates my words before nodding, but Eric frowns and shares a look with Booker. “Okay, but getting in won’t be easy. He will recognise you.”

“Not if we go when he’s out. Every Friday, he goes out with the boys for game night…” I trail off. “Motherfucker. I thought it was game night. It’s probably free pussy night.” Anger surges through me before I breathe it away and continue. “Either way, he’ll be out.”

“That gives us two days to get ready for this. Are you sure you can do it?” Booker asks. From anyone else, it would have sounded like an insult, but I can hear the worry behind his words. He’s concerned that this will hurt me, but I know it will do the opposite—it will give me some of my power back. Chaz thinks he’s so smart, thinks he’s untouchable, but it’s time we show him how wrong he is.

And the woman he wronged will be right there with the thieves he hired.

“Yes, I’m sure.” I make my voice confident and strong, giving them no room for apprehension as I reach out and take his hand. “I need to do this.”

He searches my eyes before lifting my hand and kissing the back. “Then let’s do it.”

The next day is spent preparing. We aren’t using disguises this time, only masks. We are going in at night, but we will be watching from early evening to make sure he goes out. Archer spent hours locating security specs online, and with my help, he managed to figure out a plan. After all, Chaz’s cameras are fake, which I should have guessed since he’s cheap, and his lock is one of those fancy number ones that I just so happen to know, so easy access.

He didn’t think that through when he betrayed me, did he? He probably thought I would just bow down and let him walk all over me. He probably hopes I’m actually dead.

We run over the plan time and time again until we are all comfortable with it. It seems like they are as angry as I am with him—not just on my behalf, but at using them to hurt me and then stabbing them in the back too.

When Thursday night finally rolls around, I can barely sleep. I eventually just give up, and after going for a run, which does nothing, I slump in the living room. I’m still hurt over what Chaz did, but above all that is anger—anger that I trusted him and he betrayed me. Wrapping around that anger now, however, is excitement, because we are going to get even.I’m going to get evenwith the help of my men.

My family.

He won’t see it coming, not from the rich, Genevieve arm candy. Oh no.

I’m going as Birdie, the street kid. The girl he would be disgusted by.

I’ll get my revenge, and he’ll bleed across this diamond when I’m through.
