Music pounded in my ears, and the crush of bodies made it impossible to spot my friends. As I pushed my way through, a girl stumbled into me, knocking my arm that held my beer, sending it splashing over both of us. I steadied her with a hand on her back as she gave me an apologetic smile.

“Sorry. I didn’t see you there.” Her smile turned flirtatious, her heated gaze running over me, and normally I’d be into it…but for some reason, I wasn’t feeling it today.

“No worries. Excuse me.” Spinning away from her, I continued on my way, heading in the direction of the door.

“Liam!”

I turned to see Ander making his way over to me, the crowds parting for him as usual.

“Alright?” I gave him a fist bump. “Nice party.”

“Yeah.” He flashed me a grin, then leaned closer. “All the girls from number 5 are here. That includes the newsinglegirls. Want an intro?”

“I’m capable of pulling on my own, but thanks for the offer.”

“You don’t wanna work together? You know we make a good team.” A mock pout appeared on his face, making me laugh.

“Fuck, yeah, we do, but I’m not in the mood for it yet. Need another drink first.” I held up my bottle, and he nodded, accepting my excuse.

“That means I get first pick. Catch up with you later, mate.”

When he’d disappeared, I downed the rest of my beer. There was a weird restless feeling inside me. I couldn’t put my finger on what it was, but I didn’t like it.

Only one thing for it.

More drinks.

Fuck, I was definitely wasted. Exiting the bathroom, I attempted to walk in a straight line, but when I stumbled into the wall, I decided fresh air was the answer.

What I didn’t expect was to round the corner of the corridor and see my housemate with his tongue down another guy’s throat. Yeah, he’d told us he was gay, and he’d even said something to me directly about being into dick, but saying it was one thing and actually seeing it in front of me was another.

I stopped dead, frozen in place, unable to drag my gaze away. I’d seen guys kissing before—my housemate, Preston, with his boyfriend, Kian, for one—so I didn’t know why this was such a shock to the system. What the fuck was it about Noah that had me reacting so strongly all the time?

The guy had Noah pushed up against the wall, and he had one arm planted on the wall and the other around the back of Noah’s neck, while Noah gripped his waist. As I watched, the guy’s head moved down to Noah’s throat.

That was when Noah’s eyes met mine, and all that fucking heat was suddenly directed straight at me.

My mouth went dry.

He disentangled himself from the guy, all the while keeping his eyes on me. What the fuck was going on? His hand went down to the noticeable bulge in his jeans, and I swallowed hard as my dick jerked, completely out of the blue. My heart was pounding out of my chest, and my head was spinning, a weird buzz running through my body. Was I having some kind of panic attack?

Someone knocked into me, and I managed to break away from Noah’s intense stare, spinning around and moving in the opposite direction as fast as I could. Suddenly, going outside to sober up sounded like the worst idea. I needed to wipe whatever that was from my mind.

Stumbling into the kitchen where all the drinks were, I dug around in the fridge for something stronger than beer.

“Liam.”

I glanced up to see Travis with his arm slung around Kira’s shoulders, holding up a bottle of bright green liquid.Absinthe. Lurching upright, I made my way over to them and took the bottle from his hand.

“You read my mind.” Tipping it to my lips, I relished the liquorice burn of the alcohol sliding down my throat for about five seconds until I started coughing.

“Whoa. Careful there, mate,” Travis cautioned me. “That’s strong shit.”

After a second, much smaller swig, I handed the bottle back to him, already feeling better. “Cheers. You guys having a good time?”
