Mum:Noah, I expect a phone call later to explain this picture

Mum:Have fun *wink emoji*

I groaned under my breath, even though I was smiling. I wanted nothing more than to tell them what had led me to the match today and how much I was starting to like Liam, but I couldn’t. Everything between the two of us was so new and fragile and uncertain, I didn’t want to risk saying anything until I knew for sure where we stood with each other.

Pocketing my phone again, I took a seat, falling into a surprisingly easy conversation with Kian and Asher about gym exercises to complement running sessions. Before I knew it, the second half was beginning, and although I tried to make sure I followed the game, my gaze kept drifting to Liam. The way he moved, graceful but powerful, his muscles flexing as he ran…it did things to my dick that were way too fucking inappropriate for a public setting.

When the final whistle blew and both Travis and one of the other players had scored, giving LSU a 2-0 win, I huffed out a heavy breath, slumping down in my seat. I’d survived my first full match, and I’d managed to keep my dick under control. Just.

“Are you coming with us?” Kian glanced over at me.

“Where?”

“We’re gonna meet the players and get food before me and Carter have to head back to Alstone.”

I shook my head. That was a step too far. No matter how friendly everyone was, I didn’t think I could be around everyone and act normal if Liam was there. Not only that, but now the game was over, the memories from my school days that I’d been trying to suppress were flooding back in full force.

“I’m—I can’t. I need to go. Thanks for inviting me, though.”

Straightening my shoulders, I walked away.
