Showered and changed, I headed back outside to greet the people who had been watching the match. I scanned the groups milling around, but I didn’t see Noah anywhere. I knew I hadn’t imagined seeing him earlier.

“Did you see—”

“Noah?” Kian gave me a knowing look, which I ignored. “Yeah. He was here, but he said he had to go.”

“I wasn’t going to say that. I was going to ask if you’d seen Asher. Levi was looking for him.”

“’Course you were, mate.” Kian patted me on the back condescendingly. I growled under my breath, which just made him laugh. Fucker.

Not wasting any more time, I jogged away. I wasn’t going to stick around for him to take the piss out of me. Whatever was going through his head, he was wrong.

I headed over in the direction of the student union shop, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a hooded figure on a bench under a tree, fingers wrapped around a coffee cup.

My heart skipped a beat.

Changing direction, I cut diagonally across the grass, coming to a stop next to the bench.

“Hi.”

Noah’s head flew up, his mouth falling open in shock, but then he quickly recovered, a smile that was almost shy spreading over his gorgeous face. “Hi. I watched you play.”

I shoved my hands into my pockets, kicking at the ground with the toe of my trainers. “Yeah. I saw. Decided you liked football?”

He shrugged. “Kian invited me, and I remembered what you said about not sharing interests. So I wanted to come.”

“But did you like it?” My lips curved up in amusement as I watched the way he avoided my gaze, clearly trying to avoid answering. “Go on, tell me the truth.”

His fingers tapped against his coffee cup. “Hmm. It was alright, I suppose. Not sure you’ve turned me into a fan of the game, but I couldn’t complain about the view.”

My heart did that weird skip thing again. Clearing my throat, I glanced in the direction of the path that led to the student car park. “I’m hungry. Have you eaten?”

“I could eat.” Climbing to his feet, he finished up his coffee, then dumped the empty cup in the recycling bin by the benches. His shoulder brushed against mine as we set off, and I felt the brief contact through my entire body.

When we reached the edge of campus, I reached out and touched the sleeve of his hoodie before shoving my hands back into my pockets. “I’m glad you came today.”

The smile he gave me was wide and bright, his eyes shining as he looked over at me. “Me too.”

“I thought you said I was never allowed near your car again,” Noah commented as he slid into the passenger seat of my Golf.

“Fuck off.” I shot him a grin as I started up the engine. “Want to pick the music?”

“You’re letting me pick something? Is it because you don’t want me to know about your extensive Justin Bieber collection?”

“If you say one word about being a Belieber, I’m kicking you out of the car.”

“Okay, okay.” He held his hands up, laughing. “No need to use threats. Your secret’s safe with me.”

“Noah.” As I navigated out of the car park, I couldn’t help the smile that spread across my face.

He fiddled with the radio for a minute, connecting his phone to the car stereo, and then a song started playing that I’d never heard before. When he started singing along in a quiet voice, something about catching feelings, I was fucking mesmerised.

“You’ve got a good voice.” I glanced over at him, now we were stuck at traffic lights, and I noticed the flush on his cheeks.

He cleared his throat, and his gaze darted to me, then away again. “Uh, thanks. So where are we going, anyway?”
