“I’ll leave on Wednesday and come back Friday. I’m looking forward to it.” I was so tempted to ask him to come with me. Instead, I asked, “What are your plans?”
“Jackson invited me over. Actually, the invitation was from Catherine. She insisted I be there. And you know Catherine.”
I laughed. “Uh, yeah.” I should have given in to my temptation, but the thought of us moving that fast freaked me out.

Tyler and I had to skip our weekly romp fest the week of Thanksgiving because I left on Hump Day to head to my dad’s house in Monarch. We had made the most of our last night together before I headed out of town. Still, it had been Monday night, and it would be five days before I had him in bed again. Thankfully, he had the idea to call me late Wednesday night and got me all hot and bothered with his sexy talk—enough to satisfy both of us until we were together again.
It was Saturday morning, and I was drinking my coffee when I caught him eyeballing my mugs.
“I think I deserve an actual mug, don’t you?” he asked, catching me off-guard.
“What?” I asked, dumbfounded. I was busy reliving last night and this morning. He was busy talking about coffee.
“Please don’t make me drink out of one of your disposable cups.”
“You’ve drank out of actual mugs before. Don’t be lame.”
“I’m just sayin’,” he smirked.
I bounded over to him. “Here, ya smart ass.” I handed him a mug with the SDPD’s insignia on it. It was the one my dad gave me after graduating from the academy.
He brought his hand to his heart in phony surprise. “Wow. I’m honored.”
“You should be. It’s my most favorite mug.”
His lips came to mine in a loud smooch.
“I was very impressed with your moves last night,” I told him.
“After our phone call, Wednesday night, I decided to do exactly what we talked about.”
I laughed. I was tempted to tell him about the undercover assignment, but I didn’t want to ruin the moment. I was enjoying our little tête-à-tête and wanted to see where it might take us. If I was lucky, it would take us back to the bedroom.
