“Hit me, you fucker!” he shouts at Tristan.

Tristan only straightens and stares at him, his cheek already swelling.

“Hit me!” Pierce repeats, shoving him again.

Tristan shakes his head. “You’d love that, wouldn’t you?”

Pierce roars and launches at him, and I cry out when he lands another blow to Tristan’s face. I rush forward, but Tristan holds up his hand with a warning look. I’m furious when he calmly stands again like he has no intention of fighting back. What is he doing?!

“Hit me!” Pierce yells. “Or are you the pussy everyone says?”

“Not happening,” Tristan says evenly.

Pierce rushes him with a growl, this time knocking him to the ground.

“Stop!” I shout, throwing myself at Pierce.

I yank his arm, but he smacks me away with a snarl. Tristan tries to push himself up, but Pierce sends him back to the floor with a hard kick to the ribs. I scream and shove my soon-to-be-ex as hard as I can.

Thank god the door clatters open, halting the violent scene.

“What the hell is going on?” Kim says.

Her eyes widen when she sees her brother, but her shock quickly turns to fury.

“Out!” she yells at Pierce. “Get. Out!”

“Fine, but Isabel is going with me,” he snaps.

“Like hell she is. Get out and never come back.”

“Make me! Your pansy-ass brother certainly won’t.”

Tristan’s eyes are blazing as he studies his nemesis. Why didn’t he level him? I know he could.

“I’m calling the police,” Kim says, pulling out her phone.

Pierce scans his victim before delivering a hard look to me. His attention shifts to Kim who lifts her phone in warning.

“This isn’t over,” he hisses, pointing at me.

After smashing his foot into the couch, he storms through the door and slams it shut behind him.

“I’m calling the police anyway,” Kim says.

“No! Don’t,” Tristan says, gripping the back of the couch to steady himself.

I rush over to help him, but he swats me away as he tries to straighten.

“I’m fine,” he mutters.

“Yeah? You look fine,” I return. “Is that why you can’t even stand up?”

He glares at me, and I cross my arms in challenge.

Clutching his side, he wills himself to his feet. I can see the command radiating from his stubborn brain.

“This has gone far enough,” Kim snaps. “Someone needs to put a stop to that bastard.”
