Georgiana laughed. “I think I can find my way.”

Elizabeth's Wednesdaydidn't start well.

Damn Marvin Gaye.

She’d had every intention of driving home from Will’s last night, but he’d persuaded her to dance with him in his living room, suggesting they shouldpracticefor the benefit. She knew full well it was a ruse, and the dancing turned into a sweet, slow seduction that ended with them waltzing upstairs to Will’s room while Marvin sang aboutgetting it on.

And now, she’d overslept. When she woke, she’d snuggled contentedly against him, thinking she’d wokenbeforethe alarm sounded. When she opened her eyes to peek at the time, she was horrified to see it was seven forty. She bolted from the bed, rousing Will from a deep sleep.

“What–what are you doing?” he asked, sitting up and running his hands over his face.

“I'm late. Shit!”

He rubbed the sleep from his eyes. “Sorry—I must have shut the alarm off instead of hitting snooze.”

She took a quick shower, and when she came out of the bathroom, he was laying her clothes—previously scattered around his room—on the bed. He turned to her, twirling her bra between his fingers.

“Need any help getting dressed?”

“I think you've helped enough this morning, thank you.”

He grinned guiltily. “Okay. I'll meet you downstairs.”

When she walked into the kitchen, he offered her a travel mug filled with coffee and a toasted English muffin, and she narrowed her eyes.

“Sorry again,” he said, and tilted his head in that way that she found adorable.

She sighed. “Oh, you're forgiven. But I have to leave.”

He walked her out to her Jeep and handed her the muffin and the coffee once she was buckled in. He kissed her once, then again, and then again, and she smiled against his lips.

“You’re incorrigible,” she said quietly.

“I've been called worse. Still in love with me?”

“Completely.”

They said goodbye, and she made a quick stop at home to change her clothes. By the time she arrived at work it was nearing nine o'clock, but she’d called on her way to let Bill know she was running late.

The moment she sat down at her desk, her phoned chimed with a text from Charlotte.

Are we still shopping today?

Yes

Good. I need to talk to you about something

Is everything okay?

I don’t know. I think there might be something going on with George and Lydia

Elizabeth groaned. What makes you think that?

Just a feeling. I'll tell you more when I see you

Okay. I’ll pick you up after 4. See you then
