Her breath caught. “What's in there?”

“Open it and find out.”

The sight of the emerald and diamond teardrop earrings nestled inside made her gasp. She turned back to the mirror and put them on, and then moved her head this way and that to watch them sway.

“They’re gorgeous. Thank you.”

He pulled another box from his other pocket and opened it, holding it out in front of her. She fell silent when she spied the simple but stunning diamond and emerald tennis bracelet. He lifted it from the box and clasped it to her wrist, then placed a light kiss on the back of her hand.

“There.Nowyou're ready.” He lightly fingered one of the earrings before gliding his fingers down her neck and over the necklace. “They look amazing on you. I knew they would.”

She gazed at her reflection in the mirror, still feeling a bit overcome, and smiled shyly. “I truly don't know what to say. Thank you doesn't seem to be enough.”

He gently held her face and kissed her. “It's more than enough.”

Five minutes later,Georgiana and Elizabeth stood admiring each other in the foyer of the townhouse before climbing into the limousine Will had hired. Georgiana wore a shimmery silver dress and looked beautiful. She was glowing, and Will guessed it probably wasn't just from her tan.

She’d told him just a little while ago that she’d met Matt Evans for coffee this morning and had invited him to join them tonight, taking Will’s last ticket. As the brother of Georgiana’s best friend, Matt was no stranger; Will had met him a few times, and from what he could remember, he was a decent, polite young man.

It dawned on Will while he was talking to Georgiana about the benefit that her feelings for Matt might extend beyond friendship; she’d stammered and blushed her way through their conversation, and he was curious to see how they would interact tonight.

Within minutes, the limousine pulled up in front of Charles’s building, and Will called to let him know they were waiting, and the beaming couple emerged from the building.

Will had impulsively bought Elizabeth’s jewelry this morning, when he’d gone with Charles to pick up Jane’s ring. He’d browsed the cases while Charles had been busy taking care of his purchase, and the green of the emeralds had jumped out at him, bringing to mind Elizabeth’s eyes.

Now, it was obvious from Jane’s radiant expression that Charles had already proposed, and she’d accepted. This is going to be a noisy ride.

Charles and Jane got situated in the limousine, and remarks were made about how wonderful everyone looked.

“Lizzy, what isthataround your neck?” Jane asked.

Elizabeth’s face colored becomingly, and she lifted the necklace slightly as Jane leaned forward to get a closer look. “It's a gift from Will.”

“It's gorgeous. I love emeralds.”

“Show her the rest,” Georgiana said.

Jane’s eyebrows rose. “The rest?”

Elizabeth pulled her hair away from her ears and then held out her wrist. “The rest.”

Jane smiled. “Wow, nice job, Will. You have good taste.”

“Thanks, Jane.”

She sighed, and a smile lit her features. “I got some new jewelry today too.”

“Oh, you did? Let's see,” Elizabeth said, and leaned forward.

Jane held out her left hand, adorned only by her engagement ring.

Elizabeth's jaw dropped. “Is that what I think it is?”

Jane nodded, and Will’s prediction came to fruition: it was a very noisy ride.
