He said goodbye, then lay in bed, trying to remember his dream. It was fantastic, if the lingering side effects were anything to go by, but the specifics had already escaped him. Elizabeth had featured prominently; that much he could recall. Waking to her soft voice in the middle of said dream had only encouraged his aroused state, and hearing her talk about what it would be like to wake up with him was nearly unbearable.

The gym didn’t open for twenty minutes, so he got up to read the Boston papers online, and was inspired to write a quick text to his girl.

Good morning (again). I miss you (terribly) and I'm thinking about you (always)

After a good workout, he went back to his room to shower. He checked his cell phone, and smiled when he saw Elizabeth’s reply.

You’re encouraging some serious daydreaming. Why did I even bother coming to work?

He was still smiling when he strolled into the restaurant and was surprised to see his cousin there already, sipping a cup of coffee.

“Ha. Beat you,” Richard said, smiling smugly.

Will laughed. “Only because you’re early. I'm still right on time.”

“I'm going to enjoy my small victories when I can.”

They ordered breakfast and talked about business, the stock market, sports—which was always an interesting conversation, since Richard had become a West Coast teams fan, and therefore a traitor—and the Cape.

“You're spending a lot of time there. No hurry to get back to Boston?” Richard asked.

Will shook his head as he swallowed a bite of eggs. “No. I like the Cape. It's relaxing. I can work out of my home office for the most part, though I've been making a weekly trip into Boston. The commute is hell, but it's worth it.”

“So what do you do when you’re there?”

“I go out. Occasionally. Or hang out on the beach.” Will cleared his throat. “Um, you know Charles bought a house just down the beach from me, so I see him and his girlfriend Jane a lot, when they're around. Georgie really loves it there, too. We find ways to fill our time.”

“Is Georgie ever going to work again?”

Will shrugged. “I don’t know.”

Richard wasn’t aware of what had happened to his youngest cousin back in January; she hadn’t wanted him to know. Will had told Richard she’d left her job in Boston simply because she was unhappy.

“So that’s it? You’re both just living on the Cape now?”

“Pretty much.”

Richard tapped his fingers on the table and studied Will with narrowed eyes. “Something else is—ah. Hm. Wait a minute. You were mooning over your phone yesterday, you've been uncharacteristically pleasant, and I've caught you daydreaming at least twice. Who is she?”

Will sighed. “Okay. There is someone.”

Richard’s eyes widened. “Seriously? That was a shot in the dark. What’s her name?”

“Elizabeth. She's Jane's sister.”

Richard burst out laughing. “How convenient for you and Charles. Sisters?”

Will chuckled. “It sounds sketchy, doesn't it?”

“So...?”

“So what?”

“Don't be coy, it's not your style. How long has it been going on?”

“Um, not long. I met her in the middle of May. She couldn't stand me.”

“She didn't fall all over herself trying to impress you, huh?”
