I was not a slave to my dick.

I leaned on the safety rail and gazed out across the city’s glittering lights. Someone passed me, going back to their own place with the night’s fuck. A pair of betas. Life was so easy for them. They didn’t have to be so aware of their own strength. Never had to rein themselves in. They could just act how they wanted. Like children playing, while the adults tiptoed around them, trying not to upset them. Betas had it good. But we’d spoilt them. Given them too much leeway. And now they demanded more, and acted out when alphas refused.

Beta liberation was a fucking joke. How did you liberate someone who was already free? The only way to change their lives would be if every alpha on the planet stopped existing.

But then, they’d still think we were oppressing them, because we weren’t there to pick up after them, anymore. What the fuck would a bunch of betas do if the Grigorians attacked? How would they have fed themselves without alpha hunters out there physically fighting the things that ate them?

I hoped Natasha’s work meant we could take down the beta liberation movement once and for all. But I was cynical. More breakaway organizations would appear, like fungoids after the rain. Still, this was the one in front of us. The current problem. And I couldn’t get between Natasha and her assignment. She was our best hope at striking into the heart of their organization.

How I felt about her was irrelevant.

When I heard her returning to my bed, I went back inside. I locked the bathroom door from the inside and fell asleep on the floor after downing half a bottle of Andarian liquor.

She filled my dreams. Sleep was cracked into fragments like a mirror that had been dropped on the floor. Each different scenario played out in a similar way. I had to find her, had to protect her, had to save her. Monsters in the shadows tried to take her from me. I killed them for her. Everything I did was for her. And it always ended with me pulling her down onto my cock and fucking her. Filling her with my seed.

Rat-a-tat-a-tat.

The monsters had come knocking for her. I shot all of them. Faceless enemies. They kept coming.

Bang, bang, bang.

They were forceful. Wait... assassins didn’t knock. Unless they were impersonating room service. No room service in this gritty underground place.

My eyes fluttered open.

Thump, thump, thump.

“...you fuckin’ dolly. I need a pish!” Natasha was shouting. I got to my feet. She sounded pissed off.

I cracked the door.

“What is it?”

She rolled her eyes. “You’re in the bathroom again! I need to use the loo.”

Oh. Yeah. That made sense. I pulled the door open all the way and walked out. I didn’t want to risk being in such a small, confined space with her again. That way madness lay.

She slammed the door and locked it.

I didn’t want to be here when she was finished. The less time I spent with her, the better. I opened up my communicator watch and spoke to Urgoth.

“Ready to trans-mat for my progress meeting, sir.”

A moment later, I stood in the trans-mat room of the ship.

“Thanks, Daral.” I gave him a little salute then wandered off to find my handler.

Urgoth was in his quarters.

“Take a seat. Care for a drink?” he asked. His tone was polite but not over-friendly. I wasn’t sure Urgothhadany friends. He was a loner through-and-through. I couldn’t imagine him ever even attending a party for work.

I made myself comfortable in one of his overstuffed armchairs. He wasted a lot of money on things the rest of us didn’t need. But it was a very comfortable seat.

“No, thank you.”

“How are you progressing?”

“I’ve got both gangs to respect me, but not to trust me.”
