CHAPTERSIXTEEN

MALCOLM

With Désirée out with her sisters, Madelaine and Corentina, I’m left sitting at home waiting on her to get back. I could’ve easily gone, stayed in the background, and she wouldn’t have known. I didn’t do this for the sole reason being she needs to start getting back to living her life. This doesn’t mean she didn’t have someone watching over her the entire time and reporting back to me.

Léon and one of the other boys went to the club the girls were hanging at tonight. They kept watch and sent pictures every so often.

Thirty minutes ago, Léon texted to let me know the girls were leaving.

Now I’m sitting out back on the patio with the sports channel playing on the screen. There aren’t many times I get to sit back and enjoy watching one of my favorite teams play. When I bought the house, I liked the fact it had a hook up for putting a TV out here. The best part is it doesn’t get wet, and I can sit out here when it’s nice out and enjoy it all.

Being from Louisiana, it’s a given that I’m a Saints fan, but I’m also LSU all the way. Not many people know I attended school there while also still working alongside Félix in taking the business from his dick of a father.

Staring up at the screen, I’m barely paying attention to it. My mind goes back to a time when Delano was still alive. Because of him, I made my first kill. Told me to be a man, a man worth fearing you should never have a problem getting your hands bloody. Guess that’s one lesson he taught his sons and me well. Since I turned the age of sixteen, I’ve taken more than I’d like to admit in life. Some of them I didn’t want to, and those are the ones that stain my soul. The others—they deserved what they got.

The sound of a car pulling up draws me from my thoughts. I switch off the TV and head inside to greet my woman. I’m closing the door to the back patio as she steps inside.

“Hey.” She smiles, placing her handbag on the table next to my keys.

“You have a good night?” I ask, moving across the room in her direction.

She meets me halfway, and I wrap my arms around her. “It was nice. I had a good time. Though I admit, I started getting antsy and uncomfortable. Like someone was watching me.”

“It was probably the boys looking out for you all,” I suggest, sliding my hands up her back to tangle my fingers through her thick dark hair. “Now that your home, you ready to go to bed, or do you want to relax?”

“Hmm.” The smile that crosses her face, I grin, scoop her up in my arms, and carry her bridal style up the stairs and to the bedroom.

It doesn’t take long for me to get her undressed and ready for me. Slowly, I make love to the woman who holds my heart. I use my body to show her the way I feel about her.

Words are just words without actions behind them, and I’m a man who doesn’t bullshit around about anything. No matter what it is. Désirée means the world to me, and I show her that.

Sliding my cock between her wet folds, I keep my eyes glued to her, loving the expressions that overcome her face. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we’d be like this. I knew I wanted her. Always have. But I didn’t know that sex with a woman could be anything more than two bodies coming together to find a release.

Sure, I saw it with Félix and Madelaine. Again, with Finn and Olivia. Even Rémy and Corentina. They have what I wanted, and now I’ve got it.

I know the moment she’s nearly found it and reach between us to send her over the edge. Her walls clamp tight around me, drawing my own release. I spill into the condom I put on before sliding into her slick entrance.

I’ll be glad for the day when I don’t have to worry about anything between us. But until we can be sure that she’s okay. That Dimitri didn’t give her anything, we’ve got to be careful. I pray he didn’t. If he did, though, I’ll kill him. Granted, the asshole’s a dead man walking as it is.

Withdrawing from her sweetness, I climb out of bed, making sure to plant a kiss directly between her tits.

I move to the bathroom and dispose of the condom. I turn the light off and head back to the bed to find Désirée already asleep.

My lips curl into a smile at the sight of her beauty laying in my bed, her head resting on my pillow. Moving to the end of the bed, I snag my sweatpants and pull them on before rounding the bed to pull the covers over Désirée.

I run a finger along the edge of her cheek up to push the hair out of her face. My heart constricts, watching as she sighs and burrows deeper into my pillow.

Stepping back, I quietly leave the room and head down the stairs. I make quick work of locking up the house, setting the alarm, and heading back to my woman to join her in bed. On the way, I switch off lights, keeping only the hall light on.

I move to my side of the bed, pick up my pants from earlier, dig out my phone, and put it on charge. Gingerly I climb in next to Désirée. I’m cautious as to not wake her. I maneuver us until she’s settled with her head resting on my chest, arm wrapped around my waist, and my head on my pillow.

I press my cheek against the top of her head and close my eyes, allowing sleep to overtake me.

* * *

The feeling of someone trailing their finger along my stomach wakes me. I inwardly grin because I know it’s my woman lazily running her hands along my skin.

When she presses a kiss to my chest, I move—taking her to her back and meeting her gaze.
