“Morning, mon trésor,” I say gruffly, having just woken up.

“Morning, baby,” she murmurs, smiling sweetly at me.

I lean in to kiss those lips that call out to me, demanding I claim them with my own.

Désirée allows me entrance almost instantly, and I take full advantage, deepening the kiss to another whole level. I press myself into her letting her feel the effect she has on me. The moans that escape from our kiss are enticing enough to make me want her to sink into her depths and stay buried there all day.

I break the kiss and reach over to the nightstand intending on grabbing a condom when my phone rings.

“Fuck,” I mutter, knowing the ringtone—Félix. Breathing out a haggard breath, I move over Désirée and press a kiss to her lips. “I’m sorry, mon trésor, I need to answer it. It’s your brother.”

“Ugh,” she huffs. “You can tell him I’m not pleased with him interrupting our morning.”

I give her a grin and brush a finger along her cheek. “I will be sure to do that.” I chuckle and roll off her to snatch up my phone before it can go to voicemail. “Yeah.”

“Need to get my sister to the hospital. Olivia went into labor about an hour ago,” Félix announces, and I lose all thought of fucking my woman this morning. Her sister needs her to be there for her.

“Right, we’ll be there soon as we can,” I tell him and hang up. He doesn’t need to say anything further, not after giving his order. Glancing over my shoulder, I see Désirée sitting up, clutching the sheet to her chest.

“What is it?” she asks, her bottom lip trembling slightly.

“We need to get dressed and get to the hospital,” I inform her while getting up and strutting over to the closet.

“Is everything okay?”

I don’t have to look over my shoulder to know Désirée’s out of the bed and following me, but I do answer her while grabbing a pair of jeans off the hanger. “Yeah, but Olivia’s in labor.”

“Oh no. Isn’t it too early?”

Hearing the panic in her voice, I pivot on my heel to face her. The look on her face hits me right in the gut like a sucker punch. She doesn’t like the thought of something going wrong and her possibly losing a sibling. And with Olivia pregnant with twin boys, it can’t be easy on Désirée.

I close the distance between the two of us, cup either side of her neck, and give a gentle squeeze. “Yeah, mon trésor, she’ll be okay. Her and the babies. You know your little sister is strong. But remember, with twins, they come early more times than not.”

Nodding, Désirée gives me a nervous smile. “Thank you,” she whispers, leaning forward to press her forehead into my chest.

“Don’t thank me, baby. I didn’t do anything,” I murmur, planting a kiss to the top of her head.

“But you do. You calm me without even trying,” she says and wraps her arms around my waist.

“Désirée,mon trésor, you can’t say things like that. Not when we gotta get dressed, and I can’t take the time to sink inside you and show you just how much I like those words,” I growl, holding her to me for another moment before releasing her in order to get dressed. “Now get dressed, baby, we gotta get going.”

“Okay,” she says, steps around me, and picks some clothes.

I make my way back into the bedroom and get dressed after snagging a pair of boxers from the dresser. By the time she comes out of the closet, I’m sliding my shirt on over my head. I take in what she’s wearing and grin. She’d slid on a pair of black leggings paired with flip flops, and she put on one of my hoodies. “Have to say, Désirée, I like the way you look in my hoodie.”

“Well, I don’t know how long we’ll be at the hospital, and I prefer to be comfortable. What better way to do that than?” She giggles and moves toward the dresser to through her hair up in a messy bun. “I’ll be ready to go in just a minute.”

“Okay, baby, we’ll stop on the way and get you a coffee if you want,” I offer, knowing my woman loves her coffee.

“No, I’ll get something at the hospital, if need be,” she says, declining the coffee.

Nodding, I pick up my phone and pull up Léon’s number. There’s no way I’m making her drink that shitty coffee they’ve got at hospitals. So, I’m going to have someone bring it to all of us.

To Léon

Bring coffees to the hospital enough for all of us. Olivia’s in labor.

Sending the text, I shove the phone in my pocket and meet Désirée’s bright eyes. “Come on, let’s get to the hospital so you can see Olivia’s okay for yourself.”

“Okay,” she murmurs and takes my hand.

I lead her downstairs, out the door, and to the car.

Once I have her in the passenger seat, I round the front and climb in on the driver’s side. Putting the key in the ignition, I press the brake and put the car in gear. I glance out the mirrors and back out of the driveway, switch to drive, and punch the gas.

Twenty minutes later, I pull into the parking lot of the hospital and find a spot to park.

Fifteen minutes after we get upstairs to the waiting room for Labor and Delivery, Léon brings the coffee for all of us along with beignets.

Sixteen hours pass before Finn comes out to let us know that he and Olivia have two healthy little boys, Aimon and Simon Brisbane.
