He could see clearly.

Alex spent the afternoon praying and thinking. She’d come to several conclusions about the man who’d kidnapped her. He couldn’t have known the woman he was looking for well. He remembered her hair and her general eye color. He also had an idea of her build, but he wasn’t certain about her facial features. Also, the song the men kept singing or playing in this guy’s personal amusement park had something to do with her. Alex had finally remembered the tune’s lyrics, but this woman’s name couldn’t be Daisy or he probably would have found her by now.

Alex sighed. She wished she had more information, but one thing she was certain of—he was obsessed. Delusional. He was fixated on finding someone who may not even live in the area any longer. And he hadn’t considered that she may have cut her hair—or dyed it another color. But some overwhelming urge wouldn’t let him stop looking for her. It was clear something traumatic happened with this woman. But what?

Alex needed specific information. Something more if she was going to convince him she was the woman he wanted. Could she wrangle details out of him without his knowing it? His body language would help her read him. She wished she’d had more data before she was taken. Now she’d have to wing it and pray she could convince him she was the woman he’d been searching for.

Her mind wandered to Logan. What had they found during the operation? Was the tumor benign? Or . . . She had to get back so she could be with him. Hopefully, he’d changed his mind and called his family. She didn’t want him to be alone. But as she lay there thinking about him, she realized she couldn’t afford to concentrate on anything except what was going to happen tonight—and the UNSUB’s reaction to it.

She suddenly thought of something. He was still the unknown subject. She walked over to her door and slid open the top panel.

“Has the man on the dates—the one who kidnapped you—ever told you his name?” she said into the hallway.

Finally, she heard someone slide her panel open. “No.” It was Amy. “But he did mention the other guy. I think it was an accident. His name is Andy.”

“He’s the blond guy?”

“Yeah, the one who takes care of us. I think the main guy, the one on the dates, is the boss. He tells Andy what to do. He also cooks our meals. He told me that while I was out with him.”

“What did he say exactly about this ... Andy?”

“I’m trying to remember,” she said slowly. “I think it was something like he hoped I liked the dress Andy brought me. After he said it, he looked a little upset. That’s why I don’t think he meant to say Andy’s name.”

“What was your answer?”

“What could I say? I said the dress was beautiful. It wasn’t. And that stupid song made me hate it even more. They kept playing it over and over.”

Two more panels slid open.

“What’s the deal with this dress?” Merrie asked.

“Please tell me before I have to wear it tonight,” Tracy added.

“I’m sure the woman he’s looking for wore a dress like that,” Alex said. “And that’s why that Daisy song comes into play.” She smiled to herself. One more piece of the puzzle.
