“That can’t be true! Winter has been in love with you her entire life, from the moment she met you. She never would have cheated on you!” she screams at me.

“Well, unless she has a fucking twin none of us know about, it was her! I’m fucking done with this conversation. It’s getting useless going over the same shit over and over again. People change and I guess she did, too.”

I fucking hate having to remember seeing that guy on top of her when I was in London to surprise her. Yeah, I got the biggest fucking surprise of my life that day.

I used to think soulmates existed, and that she was mine, but her betrayal fucking gutted me to the core. I won’t rest until I’m satisfied that she feels as much pain as I did when she betrayed me.

“I don’t care what you say. You’re a fucking bastard. If anything happens to her, that’s on you. I hope to fucking God I’m there to see your ugly ass face when you realize you were wrong this entire time. And the icing on the fucking cake? I hope it happens on the day she’s over your stupid ass for all the shit you’ve put her through,” Luna says.

“You weren’t there to see the devastation you left behind. We were,” Riley says, with more tears streaming down her face. “My best friend is a shell of herself and it’s all because of you, Mason King. I hope you can live with yourself after all of this is said and done.”

“Do you even care that someone is stalking her? That someone is possibly trying to harm her?” Avery asks in a small voice filled with pain for her best friend.

“What do you mean someone is stalking her?” I ask.

“Yeah, on top of dealing with your bullshit, she has actual real-world problems to deal with,” Avery chimes in while also giving me the finger and a deadly look.

“Look, we don’t know much yet because she’s been keeping it all to herself. Whoever is after her is playing mind games with her. She had started telling us about everything that was happening to her since she got back to Ravenwood and then you guys showed up, so we don’t have all the details yet,” Luna says.

“Just so you know, you’re a fucking monster for everything that you’ve done to her. How could you destroy years of her hard work like it was nothing when you know how much it meant to her?” Riley asks.

“I hope she hates you forever,” Avery cuts in next.

I’m just about to reply when I’m cut off by the sound of gunshots coming from the back of the property where the lake is.

“Fuck! You guys, Winter’s out there!” Nate curses out. It only takes a second before we’re all grabbing our jackets and running out the door and into the cold.

My heart hammers in my chest as we run toward the back of the house. Winter went outside just before we started having that heart-to-heart bullshit in there.

More shots go off as we’re running, and I pick up my pace. It barely crosses my mind that we’re all idiots running into gunfire with no protection of our own, but none of us stop.

In no time, we come up to the path that leads to the lake, and I spot the bridge just up ahead. Another two shots fire off, back-to-back just as we step foot onto the bridge. When we’re halfway across the bridge, the sight makes my heart slam into my chest so hard I’m worried I’ll have a heart attack or something.

Winter lets out a terrified scream as the ice breaks from beneath her feet and she falls straight through and into the freezing water.

“She still can’t fucking swim!” Grayson yells and we all run faster. Shit! I forgot about that little tidbit. By the time we get to the riverbank, I’m already barking out orders.

“Guys! Look around and see if you can find whoever was fucking shooting at her.” I turn to the girls next. “Someone call her doctor and tell him to come over as fast as he can. He lives like five minutes from here. And get me some blankets for her!”

I don’t see any movement anymore, and not wanting to waste more time, I dive into the water with Grayson following me.

Son of a bitch!

The water is freezing cold as soon as it hits my skin, but I don’t have time to think about that anymore because I have to find her.

I swim down toward the bottom because I know that’s where she’ll be, since she doesn’t have a clue how to swim. I feel movement beside me and I know Gray’s with me. It’s hard to see, so we have to feel around in front of us once we get closer to the bottom.

It doesn’t take long before I feel her body. I get Grayson’s attention by tugging on his shirt, since he wasn’t far from me. We both grab one of her arms and start to swim back up to the surface.

Once we break the surface, we swim and pull her toward the bank where Nate and Royce are waiting. Both guys grab her and pull her out of the water, laying her down flat on her back on the ground. My teeth are chattering from being in the cold water and then coming out into the cold air, but I don’t think of any of that as I rush out of the water and drop to my knees by her side.

She’s not moving, and I see her lips are turning blue already. I pull the coat off of her, which causes her top to raise up to her stomach. I look at her body, horrified at the long cut on her stomach that’s starting to ooze blood.

“What the fuck? Where the hell did she get that from?” I yell, which causes everyone to look at what I’m staring at.

Fuck! Please still be alive baby…

Yeah, yeah, call me a hypocrite later.
