He moves so fast; I wonder how he’s still so agile at his age. His hand wraps around my neck and a second later, he’s squeezing.

“Then fucking prove it, little girl. If you think you’re so smart, then prove it. I can guarantee you that you’ll never be able to link me to that shitstorm you’re facing because quite frankly, I had nothing to do with it,” he says smugly.

“I’ll tell Mason what you’re doing!” I snap.

“Do you think he’ll care? Why do you think he’s trying to get close to you?” he asks smugly. “Ask yourself why someone who hates you would want to get close to you again? Oh, trust me, sweetheart, he’s playing you. And like the dumb little twit that you are, you’re just letting him,” he says, outright laughing in my face. He shoves me away and I stumble, barely managing to keep myself upright.

“Get out of my face. I’m done with this juvenile conversation,” he says before walking back to his desk.

“You won’t get away with this and I’ll make you pay some way, somehow,” I snarl.

“We’ll see who makes who pay first. Let the games begin, bitch,” he smugly mutters.

“Asshole!” I snap before storming away.

I book it out of there before he has a chance to change his mind and come after me. I’m thankful he didn’t try anything this time because I probably would have lost my shit and murdered him or something. Especially after the day I’ve had already.
