Silence can’t be misconstrued…
“I just want you to know that I’m not a monster. I know the stories that are passed down about me each year. My favorite might be the one about making the kid miss his mom’s funeral or something like that. In fact, the reason that I don’t put them to rest is that it does keep the attendance rate very high in my class…”
Dr. Curry paused before continuing.
“I guess what I am trying to convey is that I know that your life is probably very hectic right now, and if you need to miss class from time to time I promise that it won’t affect your grade. You are an excellent student and have always been very punctual and polite. Therefore, if you do feel overwhelmed and need a break, I will fully understand.”
“Oh, okay, well… thank you very much, Dr. Curry. I really appreciate that, but hopefully it won’t be needed,” Cara politely replied.
“He was the best, you know…” Dr. Curry replied. “Such a shame what happened to his father, not to mention to him.”
“I agree…” Cara wasn’t sure what else to say.
“Well, I won’t keep you any longer. Good day, Miss Knox.”
“See you tomorrow, Dr. Curry.”
