I watched him walk to the bathroom, his perfectly sculpted ass on display. By the time he returned with a warm washcloth, I was sleepy.

“Do you need to go to work?” he asked softly like he didn’t want to disturb me.

“Probably. What time is it?” I asked without opening my eyes.

“It’s seven.”

“The store opens at eight.” Patrons wanted me to be open even earlier, but I liked to squeeze in my morning ritual. Plus, in the beginning, it was just me. I didn’t have anyone to share the burden with. Maybe once a few more health clubs signed a contract to carry my smoothies, I’d ask Kayla to work more hours.

Colton stretched out on his side next to me. “Have you ever thought about adding spiritual coach to your resume?”

“What do you mean?” I hadn’t expected him to say that.

“You were talking about being a health coach, but you were pretty great last night, leading me in the meditation. Isn’t that something you could provide along with health information?”

“I hadn’t thought of it before.” Most people were skeptical; they prided themselves on being practical and a realist. Very few were open-minded, but maybe things were changing. People loved self-help books, and there were plenty of spiritual guidebooks on the top charts these days.

Not only was Colton open to my way of life, but he also supported my dreams. He was quickly opening my mind to a relationship with him. I just wasn’t sure that’s what he wanted.

“Just a thought. I wouldn’t say I’m open to things like that, and I felt something.”

“You must have let down your guard.” Which was no small feat for a guy like him. One who loved being in control at all times.

“Maybe I felt comfortable with you.”

Was he saying that I had a natural way about me or that what happened last night was specific to him?

“The next time you pitch to a yoga studio, suggest meditation. I would think after a round of yoga, most people would be relaxed enough to try it.”

“Oh my God. That’s an amazing idea. Yoga and meditation go together perfectly.” My mind raced with ideas. I could ask Shae. She was the only one open to the idea of selling my juices.

“If you want to expand, that is.”

“You know I do. I don’t want the store to just be juice or smoothies. I want to build multiple streams of income.”

“You want the security?”

I thought back to how I felt when we were dropped off with a social worker, the back and forth, the uncertainty. “I do.”

“There’s nothing wrong with that. And it’s smart. In this economy, stores come and go, but you could do online sales and coaching. You could partner with health clubs and yoga studios. You could even write a book with your recipes and your own spiritual guide.”

I snorted. “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.”

He considered me. “Is it really that crazy?”

I rested my hand on his bare chest. “I have no idea how to write a book.”

“I’m sure there’s plenty of guidance on writing a nonfiction book.”

That was probably true. “I like the idea of spreading what I know.”

“That’s the perfect business model. You want breakfast?”

I nodded, my mind still on the new ideas.

He patted my ass. “Jump in the shower, and I’ll get it started. I need to let Scout out.”

His dog had hopped up on the end of the bed at some point last night.
