It all felt so good—his lips, his tongue, his hands kneading my backside.

I can’t think.

I ground my head into mud, raising my chin, exposing my neck. I tugged on his coarse golden strands.

Logan followed my wordless pleas. He tipped his head up and nipped at the hollow of my neck, rubbing it with his perfect growth of beard before generously kissing the sensitive skin.

Don’t ever stop, Logan.

I murmured, “Logan, please.”

Logan whispered into my ear, “Tell me, honey. Charlie, I can’t do this if you leave me.”

Logan trailed his lips back to my chest, kissing and gently sucking at the skin while unlacing my top further, down to my navel.

I held his head to my chest, panting.

“Charlie,” he groaned.

“I…” I breathed. “I can’t.” I released my hold on his hair.

Logan paused, lifting his eyes to meet mine while his lips rested between the mounds of my chest. His hands lightened on my waist. “Charlie, we don’t have to, if it’s too much.”

He dipped his head down and kissed the exposed skin. “I can still make you feel amazing.” His tongue licked over my sternum. “I can give everything you need.” He laid quick kisses over each rib. His eyes were so green, they looked like a calico, about to lick every part of me.

I craned my head off the ground. “It’s not that. I want this,” I sighed. “I love you in all the ways Charlie can, but I can’t tell you what you want to hear. I can’t fight Her anymore.”

He kissed my palm. “Try. For me if not for you.”

“No,” I whispered as I released my legs from around his waist. I pushed at his chest with my palm until he moved off.

“I’m sorry about… everything. I wish I could’ve stopped the Raiders before I damned you to this life too.” I turned away from Logan and ran.

I jogged up the mountain path without looking back. It was torture enough to say goodbye. I didn’t want to see his eyes filled with disappointment in me.
