“Fuck that! Absolutely not. I won’t let you go.”

“It’s not simple, Logan. The mortal makes Her weaker. I think like a human, not a Valkyrie. I fear losing you and hurting Ales. I'm not strong enough to defeat the Raiders, but She is. I can’t doom this world and others because I don't want to give myself up. Please, you have to let Charlie go.”

“No.” Logan shook my shoulders. “Find another way! Break the rules. I don’t care what Ales needs for his army. Screw this war. The woman who saved me in the gorge wouldn’t just fade away. That was all you Charlie, not the Valkyrie. You fought for me to live. And I’m going to do the same for you.”

“Logan. I’m sorry.”

Logan moved faster than I anticipated.

I began easing back onto my heels when he abruptly rolled his hips, grabbing my arm and tangling my leg—flipping me onto my back in a single breath. “Maybe I can give you something to live for.”

Before I could react, he pressed my wrists into the muddy ground and bent his head to mine.

His lips slanted across my mouth with bruising force, possessively brushing quick strokes over my lips before nipping gently with his teeth. Slowly, he lightened the kiss, teasing my mouth with gentle caresses.

My mouth involuntarily parted on a moan.

His tongue flicked across mine, spiking the kiss with cinnamon and dark spice.

I opened my lips fully for him, seeking his unique taste. It was more potent, harsher, than before.

Oh, yes. You taste even better than the last time.

I licked at his tempting lips before tentatively sweeping over his tongue.

I aggressively started matching him stroke for stroke.

Without breaking the kiss, Logan took his weight off my chest, coming onto his hands and knees above me.

I sighed as he released my wrists, running his hands down my arms over my armored chest. His thumbs caressed over the top edge of my breasts. Then he cupped them over the leather. The heat of his hands melted past the material.

I whimpered, needing the full warmth of his skin against mine.

I wound my legs around his hips and began arching my chest upwards to meet his hands. My hips began slow circles against his.

A deep groan vibrated from Logan’s mouth when he dipped his head to kiss me again.

The sound was so low, so sensual, I wanted to fill the forest with it.

I rocked my hips upwards and bit down on his bottom lip, nipping my teeth over it until I was rewarded when something between a growl and a groan echoed from his chest.

He began tearing at the strings binding my top together, parting the leather. Breaking the kiss, he panted and looked down at me.

“I’m going to give Charlie some very good reasons to stay,” he whispered before he kissed my neck. His soft beard tickled against the delicate skin. I shuddered. Heat bloomed down my body. He expertly removed his hands from my chest, sliding them down my ribs to grip my waist, sucking his hips tighter to mine, letting me grind against him.

Logan’s touch was better than going home for Charlie.

“Mmm,” I mumbled as he leaned forward, bending his head back to my chest.

Lazily, he swirled his tongue over my collarbone, laving at it, letting his beard scrape over it and then moving lower.

I’d need Logan until my last breath.

I swallowed the taste of Logan’s kiss and shut my eyes, waiting, praying, for more of his skillful tongue.

It was so different than Ales’ touch. There was no pain. Nothing I had to fight to control. I could just be with him. He soothed the burning ache inside me.

“Tell me, honey. Tell me you’ll stay,” he rumbled, kissing the tops of my breasts before running his tongue over them.
