Mendex stumbled away from me, his back against the wall, fear in his eyes.

It was impossible. No one had ever held two crafts. I didn’t understand how this was happening, but I knew in my soul the truth.

Shadow blood now mixed with my Golden blood, and I had a whole new craft to unleash on this bastard.

I looked down at my hands and the shimmer of gold that shone back at me. I could practically see me own reflection in the glimmer, noticing that my green eyes lost their original color, one turning gold, the other black. I looked up from my hands and my eyes pierced my enemy in front of me, giving him a look that promised death.

Mendex lifted a hand, as if about to shoot the electricity from his palm, but my Golden shadows moved on instinct. Shadows wrapped around his wrists, pinning them above his head, while more wrapped around his neck, cutting off his air supply.

His eyes were wide with admiration and fear from the amount of power I wielded. His men yelled and began to run at me from behind, disregarding Mendex’s previous order to stand down. The shadows shot out from behind me, with a will of their own, wrapping themselves around the ankles of each of the men, hoisting them up into the air and holding them upside down.

No one with Shadow blood had been able to utilize their craft to this extent. I had multiple men trapped within my grasp and my energy didn’t even feel the slightest bit drained. If anything, I felt like I’d just awoken from a deep hibernation—and this animal was hungry for revenge.

“Stars, help us,” Mendex choked.

“I’m sorry,” I said with no empathy at all, “but the stars are on my side tonight.”

I gave him my most sinister smile as I took a deep breath, soaking in the sweet smell of payback.

“I wonder,” I said, calling on the power within me, “if I could perhaps use my shadows as a kind of third arm.” I paced the room, eyeing each of the men I had in my grasp. Their expressions were full of fear, dreading what I was about to experiment with.

“What if my Life Craft could be extended through my shadows? Should we test it out?”

The men shook their heads in protest, some even whimpering.

“We need a volunteer.” I looked around the room, seeing who my first victim should be. “You.” I pointed to one of the men I had hanging by my shadows, his long hair draping in front of his eyes, his sweat making it stick to his forehead.

“Please, no. I’ll tell you anything!” he whimpered.

“Oh, really? Well, in that case, if Mendex isn’t the Skull King, who is?

His eyes widened in fear. “He only reveals himself to his most trusted members! I don’t know who he is. I promise I’m telling the—”

His body fell to the floor with a thump. My craft flowed through the shadow like a third arm, connecting with his body, and immediately my Golden blood took over. The craft had him dead in a second.

“Looks like I predicted correctly.” I let out a satisfied sigh. “Who’s next?”
