He stepped out of the car, opened my door and helped me out. Pulling me into another of his strong embraces, he said, “I built it from your own designs. Inside and out. Just so I could propose to you here. Just so we could be wed inside your dream.”

“That’s why it looked familiar.” I turned to look at it. Yes, it was my design. Then I spun back to him. “Wait! That means you were the one who bought my property? And you never said anything?”

“I wanted it to be a surprise. I wanted to prove to you just how much I love you. Will you marry me? Here?”

I threw my arms around him and covered his face in kisses. “Of course, I’ll marry you! And yes, I’ll marry you here.”

Grinning, he pulled back from me. “Now? To hell with a romantic dinner.”

I laughed and nodded. “Now.”

He escorted me to the front door and stopped. “This time, you have to use your key.” He grinned.

I slid the ring from my finger and tried each key until one slipped into the lock. We entered and I had another surprise. A priest stood at the front of the dining hall, smiling.

“Seriously, Dawson? That was a bit premature, don’t you think?” But I couldn’t have been happier.

“Not a bit. As a matter of fact, I think this is happening about a year too late. Don’t worry, we’ll have another ceremony and you can invite as many people as you want. I just have to marry you right here, right now, though. I want you all to myself for the rest of our lives.”
