Harper brushes her hands through my hair. “I’m so happy. I’ve been waiting for this for so long. Amazing, isn’t it?”

I nod and look up at her. This woman is my love. My queen. And it’s time for the whole world to know.

I ignore my quivery muscles and shaky fingers as I shove my right hand into my pocket.

When I have a good grasp on the ring, I pull my hand back out and hold the ring up for her to see. Harper’s eyes widen, and she presses her hand over her heart.

“Baby, you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, and even if it started out a bit chaotic, I’d take the plunge over and over again if it meant I got you at the end. I don’t ever want to spend a single day without you again. Will you marry me?”

She nods and laughs, her shimmery eyes absolutely captivating. “Yes, yes, yes.”

I quickly push off the floor before she hurts herself by dropping to her knees and kiss her.

She said yes. She’s really mine. They both are.

We part, and I remove the Smurf ring to exchange it for the vintage engagement ring I got for her.

We both stare at it for a moment while she tilts her hand this way and that, the diamonds catching the light and sparkling.

Harper gazes at me, her eyes filled with happy tears. “I’m so glad I celebrated New Year’s with you instead of Bacon.”

I chuckle at that. “Me too, baby. Me too.”

Then I make love to her until she screams my name, doubting I’ll ever get enough of her. Happy I don’t have to ever find out because she’s mine.

Forever.
