I rub my face, sinking back against the wall. “I’m so sorry."

Grey rounds on me. “What the fuck for?"

"Your home was invaded while you were here so they could get to me. You're already sticking your neck out by helping me fool the OCP, and plot my escape which will then leave you holding the bag. Maybe we should just call all of this off." I pull at my hair, completely at my wit’s end.

Oliver shoves Grey out of my face so he can get in it instead. “Fuck that. You're not going anywhere, and we're not calling shit off. I'll repeat this as often as you need, love, but this is not your fucking fault. Don't take on responsibility for others' actions. We omegas are trained basically from birth to blame ourselves for how alphas act around us or treat us. It's our fault if they can't control themselves. We must have riled them up somehow. We're taught we have to change our behavior to fix theirs. It's fucking bullshit, and I know you know that. You are always welcome here. No matter the situation."

I throw my arms around Oliver, affection and anger and fear all twisted into a ball in my chest, making it hard to breathe.

But having his scent of petrichor and rain in my lungs helps settle me. And so does his tight, desperate grip around my waist.

Callan runs his hands through my hair. ”Why don't you three go up to the nest, while Enzo and I keep checking the house and we'll put away dinner for later."

Grey nods. ”That sounds like a good idea. Sunshine?”

I blow out a breath. “Yeah, okay. That's fine."

"Just to puppy pile. Nothing else."

I nod and pull away from Oliver, letting him and Grey lead me up to the nest. The scents of pack and our four days of sex together are still strong in here, but surprisingly, they comfort me instead of arouse me. Oliver flops onto the floor and yanks me down with him, Grey following to curl up behind me, his arm reaching across me to clasp Oliver’s hips.

None of us talk, we all just sink into a sort of daze. I fight to not think at all, trying to keep all my fears at bay for a while and just find a moment of peace here with these two. I can't completely relax though until Callan and Enzo join us.

When they do, their expressions are still furious.

"Did you figure out how they got in?” Grey asks.

Callan looks at me. “Your window was unlocked. They climbed the goddam trellis."

I frown. “I know it was locked though."

I check it all the time.

Enzo nods. “It was. There were markings on it showing they used some kind of tool to pick the lock."

I throw an arm over my face with a groan. “Well, that's terrifying."

"We have a security system coming in the morning, and I'm going to keep watch tonight just in case. The rest of you should stay up here. It's the safest space.”

Grey frowns at his brother. “You shouldn't have to keep watch alone."

"I'll be fine. I work a lot of nights, so it's perfectly normal for me. I might grab a nap this evening though just so I'm not flagging later."

"Did they ever find out who tagged her door? Could it be the same person?" Oliver asks.

Callan shrugs. “It's possible. I called it in, so we'll need to go down and talk to the cops too."

Great. I can go over the long list of people who want me to pay or suffer because of what I dared to demand.
