He's somehow both right and wrong.

My dumbass friends are the ones on the porch.

I scowl at them. “What the hell are you two doing here? I told you to keep your head down in case he tries to get to me by hurting one of you."

Rose hugs me. ”Well, then wouldn't we be safer here with you and your muscly men?"

Trix pushes her way inside. “We're here to make sure those muscly men are able to actually protect you."

Callan nods, taking her seriously. “We'll take the help. You certainly kicked ass when you helped Enzo.”

Trix sniffs. “Yes, I did. Do I smell popcorn?"

"We were just about to watch TV." Callan closes the door, checking each lock after peering outside.

Trix shrugs. “Sounds good."

"Do you have a place we can sleep?" Rose asks.

Enzo nods. “Yeah, we have a few extra rooms. Callan is planning on staying down here, and the rest of us will be in the nest." Enzo turns to me. "Unless you'd feel more comfortable with them?"

"I'm happy in the nest."

Enzo beams at me in response as I blush.

But I'll get a way better night's sleep up there surrounded by pack. Even better knowing Trix is here too because I've seen multiple times how fierce she is.

The popcorn and chips don't last long as we snack and binge. Callan ends up going back for the food they made for dinner, and we wind up polishing that off too while characters with weird fucking superpowers train and fight evil.

And I'm able to find a little slice of peace and joy even with the multiple threats hovering over my head.

Having Trix and Rose join us certainly helps. In a way, they're my pack, especially Rose. They're the family I've started building for myself. Trix is newer, but no less important. And now these guys are worming their way inside my walls, becoming just as important as the other two.

Do I leave all of them behind? Do I only take the two of them, while the other four remain?

Or do I stay?

Do I keep building what I've started, join this pack, and have a chance at happiness while getting to continue my work? The idea seems too good to be true. And I have to be sure I'm choosing them for the right reasons, because I want to be with them, not because I want the life they offer.

With the coziness of my favorite people surrounding me and a great show playing on the TV, I sink deeper into the couch and into Grey and Oliver’s arms, until I can't stop yawning.

When Enzo notices, he pauses the show. "Time for bed. The omegas are yawning. All three."

"So are the alphas." Trix snorts.

Enzo frowns at Callan. “Do you need some sleep? I'm not really tired, so I can stay up a bit while you nap."

Callan shakes his head. ”I’ll be fine."

Enzo scowls. “Don't be a stubborn alphahole. Go take a nap, curl up with Rory, and I'll patrol down here. You know I'll slice the throat of anyone who steps foot inside this house."

Rose grins at me. “Oooo, you've got a growly beta too. Hot."

I grin back at her, exhaustion removing my typical reserve. “That it is."

Enzo turns his scowl onto me. “Don't say shit like that to me right now, baby. I'm already riled up enough."

I laugh as Grey and Oliver tow me towards the hallway, Callan trailing reluctantly.
