I elbow him in the ribs. Hard.

I can't help my grin though, charmed despite myself. He is something else.

AURORA'S FATHER BREAKS my goddam heart.
His situation is what every single one of us fears from the time we're old enough to realize how fucked we are in this country. It makes my awe of Aurora grow even stronger, knowing how hard she has fought to keep other omegas from her father's fate. And her own.
She's fucking amazing, and we get to keep her. Part of me keeps waiting for her to change her mind, to decide to go to Europe with her father instead of staying here with us. I couldn't even blame her if she did. The two of them are finally free of their heinous prick of a mother and can breathe for the first time in who knows how long. But so far, she hasn't mentioned the idea.
I'm holding my breath, waiting for the official ceremony to finally become a bonded pack.
I don't think I'll believe it's real until we're all marked.
The last few days have been tense and stressful as we've had to continue focusing on legal shit and her father. He's so incredibly traumatized and wakes screaming most nights. It makes me want to break into the prison and murder Aurora's evil fucking mother.
Aurora is amazing through it all, remaining calm and comforting as she helps her father heal. There is no way in hell we're ever letting that asshole near him or Aurora ever again. I don't care what we have to do.
Our new beta pack member will slit her throat in a second, I'm sure of it. That woman is bloodthirsty and growly as hell, her dominance rivaling any alpha. She's an utter badass, and I'm really glad she's on our side, in our pack.
