It’s hard though, especially with his elbow patches on his tweed jacket, suspenders, and fucking combo boots. He’s a strange, but compelling mix of professor and rockstar. And it works for him.

Before I can go on about omega hormones, a familiar scent catches my attention. One that fills me with dread and need at the same time. It's the same scent from last night that I hid from.

The caramel and cinnamon one.

My eyes widen and my head whips back and forth as I search for an escape.

But I'm too late.

The alpha who smells like he should be mine turns into the aisle, and goes straight for my new omega friend, pulling him into his arms and burying his nose in Oliver’s neck, while pointedly ignoring me.

Oh no.

Oh fuck.

Oh hell.

AURORA'S EXPRESSION goes tight and stressed as soon as Grey wraps himself around me, her summertime scent sharpening into something bitter with stress.

Grey is being unusually touchy as well. He has been since he returned from the ball last night, like he needs reassurance that I'm here, that I'm his.

Before I can introduce them, the compelling omega is scrambling to pack up her bag. "Do you mind if I leave this stuff here since I’ll be using it again tomorrow, or is that going to make things harder for you?"

Grey stiffens at the sound of her voice, but he still doesn't pull his nose out of the crook of my neck.

I smile at her and wave off her concern. “You can leave it here, that's fine. Not many people come this deep into the library or have any interest in this section, so it won't hurt anything."

She makes a scoffing noise and mutters under her breath. "Of course they don't. All right, thank you. See you around, and thanks for your help today."

"Uh, yeah. See you." I stare after her as her power walks out of the aisle, like her ass is on fire.
