What. The. Fuck.

I pull out of my alpha's arms and turn to glare at him. "What did you do?"

Grey blinks at me with faked innocence. “What?"

I refuse to be charmed. “Something happened at the stupid ball last night. Spill. Now."

“Nothing happened. I never once spoke to her. Hell, she never even looked at me." He rubs the back of his neck, avoiding my eyes.

I narrow mine. “Grey, I swear to god.”

He huffs and finally spills. “It's a scent thing. She smells... good."

"Ah." I try to hide the pang that hits my chest.

The jealousy. The insecurity. The possessive hurt.

I shake all of the toxic bullshit off, refusing to give into it. "Then why was she so weird with you?"

"No idea." He looks a little affronted over it.

"You know you don't have to keep your distance for me."

Though I’m a bit torn about it. I’m drawn to her and her honeysuckle scent too. We’ve never shared before, but I wouldn’t mind trying it. I like the idea of her writhing between us.

Grey shakes his stubborn head. “You're my omega. Your scent is just as delicious to me. There's nothing I need from her."

"I know I'm yours. But she could be too."

Scent is tricky. I’ve only found two people who appeal to me before today throughout my entire life. And if Grey feels the same way?

She’s a fucking unicorn.

Grey scoffs. “You really think that would work? Two omegas in a pack?"

I shoot him a glare. “You know none of us believe in all that bullshit they like to spout about traditional packs. Look at ours."

”I know. But..."

I cut him off, this conversation premature and probably pointless. “She's not looking for a pack anyway. She's trying to stay on her own as long as she can."

Grey cuts off the rumble in his chest, making me snort and roll my eyes at his alpha bullshit.

"She's here for twelve weeks, and she plans to spend most of it here. If you want to avoid her, you may want to stay away for a while. Or you could get your head out of your ass and get to know her."

"You like her." He says it almost like it’s an accusation.

I sigh. ”I do. She's... I don't know. She's fiery and brilliant and independent."

All things our pack has a weakness for.

“This is a terrible idea.”

"Our pack isn't complete. There's room for her."

Grey huffs. “Our pack isn't complete because we have a stubborn beta, not because we're looking to add more members. You just met her today, what the hell is wrong with you?"

"You're not the only one who likes the way she smells."
