Page 18 of Restless Omega

Tomorrow, I need to make sure I'm gone well before closing, so I don't end up running into him again. The last thing I need is a tempting alpha who already has a pack and an omega distracting me. And a beta, if I stumble across him again. He certainly sounded like he planned to track me down.

Fuck.

My stomach rumbles, reminding me I haven't eaten today, so I pull my map from my bag and squint down at it, searching for a restaurant that sounds good.

Or maybe I should get groceries and fill the kitchen in my suite.

"Aurora? Are you lost?" His words reach me before his scent does.

Goddammit.

Woods and oranges.

The beta.

I look up from my map with resignation mixed with the slightest bit of excitement I try to bury. “No. Just looking for food."

"What sounds good?" Enzo asks.

"Groceries, I guess." I’m not a good cook at all, but I can make decent sandwiches.

Mostly, I just like having food I can grab on hand instead of having to go track it down when I’m deep in work mode.

"How about I take you to dinner and then you can get groceries after?"

I blink at him. “Uh, what?"

"Can I take you to dinner?" Enzo asks again.

I frown. “Why?"

He cocks his head to the side, a quizzical smile on his face. “To welcome you to town? To get to know you?"

"I guess." I know it’s not a good idea, but the words still fall out of my mouth.

He chuckles. “I’ll take it. Do you like Greek food?"

My stomach rumbles louder, pissed I skipped lunch. “It's one of my favorites.”

Enzo beams in approval. “Our best restaurant is a Greek place. The best gyros I've ever had. Come on."

"Okay."

"How was the library?" Enzo asks as I fall into step next to him.

A goofy grin takes over my face. “It was amazing. I completely lost track of time in there."

"What did you think of the librarian?"

“Oliver? He's great."

"He is."

Something in his voice raises my suspicions. "Are you part of his pack? Are you his beta?"

He nods. “Yes. Though the pack isn't official yet."

I halt in my tracks, dread and disappointment coiling in my stomach. “Oliver mentioned that. You know... I think it might be better if I just grab groceries and head back to my place. It's been a long day."
