Chapter Twenty One

Istareatmyselfin the mirror, horrified. I’m covered in blood. I had no idea!

The pale green dress I’ve been wearing since yesterday is trash. I watch behind me in the mirror as Cal enters the bathroom, walking up quickly. Leaning around me, he drops his head, whispering in my ear as he unties my dress. “Serlo cautioned me about talking about our plans until he’s secured a safe zone.”

I’m already spinning, looking up into the corners one by one. “Are you serious?” My voice escalates, but I can’t help it. Does Serlo think they could watch us? Everywhere?

Cal chuckles, and I realize he’s already lost his covering. Is he crazy?

“Doesn’t that bother you?”

“I’m used to it.”

Well, that sucks. It’s so wrong.

His enormous hands knead the top of my shoulders. “Relax, my beautifulDeleera.” Leaning closer, he puts his face level with mine. “They aren’t interested in our bodies or what we do. It doesn’t interest them except on a clinical level. They would only want to know our plans.”

Right. He has a point. I’m sure they could—or should I say did—watch us together while we were captive at the Roportorium.

It’s just the idea of it. My skin crawls. For the first time, I can’t help but want to go home. To Earth. I wish it was possible, but the reality of it...

“Let me get you clean.” Tugging me toward the spray that I didn’t even realize he started, I stumble after him, thankful he’s here.

The warm water helps my muscles loosen. Cal’s featherlight touch has me breaking out in goosebumps, tingling with excitement. My nipples tighten, and his warm body crowds me back against the wall. I can’t believe it’s still only afternoon. It feels like we’ve had a full day already.

Pulling me against his chest, we clutch each other tightly while the water removes the worst of the blood, funneling it down the drain. “I’m so thankful I can speak with you. Share my life with you. Take care of you.”

The rumble through his chest is soothing as I melt into his embrace, humming lightly in response while he continues. “When I lost my mother... the only person who’d ever shown any interest in me... for just me... I thought I’d never have that again.”

Pulling back, I rest my chin on his broad chest, looking up at his eyes, staring down at me with such intensity. “God, Cal. That’s... horrendous.”

“Yes.” He picks up a sponge, wetting it before wiping carefully at my jawline. “There were others who admired my fighting or wanted to learn from me. But my mother appeared happy to see me, just to observe me. You understand?”

Of course I do. I nod, trying not to tear up. Today has been a roller coaster, and my emotions are a mess.

Cal’s head tilts back, staring straight ahead. “Watching what happened today with the Orcleen females, it appears the Ropors have some kind of control over them. Whether it’s implanted inside them? The ones at the Roportorium have those headbands...”

“Yes! The crowns.” I motion to my own head, remembering the way Cleonda and all the others appeared to sit around, vacant and... I mean, I thought they were just bored or something.

“Here they don’t. Perhaps it’s inside? It would make sense since they all froze earlier when the Ropors arrived.”

“Like they turned them off or something. Yeah.”

“They were in the way!” Cal rolls his eyes, moving the sponge over my body slowly. “But, more than anything else, I’m just thankful we met and mated. You’re my life.”

There’s something in his tone. Gripping his upper arms lightly, I draw his attention back to my face. “Forever. And together.”

Cal nods, a small smile tilting the sides of his mouth. “And if you decide to go anywhere, I’ll go with you. We’ll do it together. We’ll figure this out.” That’s probably as much as I should say.

I can tell he wants to argue, but considering I know more about how to get through the Portal than anyone, he’s going to have a hard time leaving me behind. The biggest thing is I trust Nako. She’s smart and a leader. That’s why she’s on the Puebloan Council for our people.

Leaning back against the wall, I reach down for the heavy weight of Cal’s cock. Even though it’s hard and pointing right at me, he hasn’t made a move, and I’m ready for a distraction.

The air hisses from his lips as I rub both hands lightly up and down, watching in fascination as the three ridged columna dance under my hand. “I need you.” Looking up, I smirk. “You know... to help me relax.”

His body bends forward, yanking his cock from my hand as he growls. “As you wish.”

I’m pinned to the wall instantly, his body crowding between my spread thighs. “We will both forget this day together. And someday, in the future, we will tell this story to our neonates. You will brag about my fighting skills and how I protected you.”

I smile, knowing he’s right. Despite my past and long held personal beliefs about violence, not all people who are good at fighting are cruel or vicious.

Cal’s gentle with me as he lines himself up at my entrance, letting my weight drop me down as he penetrates my body. As usual, I’m ready, and he slides deeper inside, stretching me wide in the most wonderful way.

Our energy blooms around us, creating a riot of colorful purples. “You’re so incredible. Your energy is beautiful.”

“Mm.” His hips drive deeper between my legs, making my breath catch, and I roll my head forward, watching the shades deepen where we’re connected. “You’re the perfect one. Now relax, while we both enjoy this nirvana.”

Tomorrow will come soon enough, and as long as we’re together, it will work out just the way it’s supposed to. With a few more thrusts, I’m shot straight to heaven, forgetting everything but him.
