“What do you do to get through it, Kade?” A hint of desperation danced in Flora’s question, and Draven had to resist the urge to take her hand in his.

Fuck, I have it bad for this girl.

Kade inhaled and narrowed his eyes on Flora. “I pretend I’m somewhere else, my nails gripping the thighs of a beautiful woman instead of the leather seat.”

Flora shook her head and let out a playful chuckle.“Are you all so crass?”

Mateo snorted from across the cabin. “We may be the future of the Moon Ridge Pack, but that doesn’t make us like your vampire royalty, princessa.”

A perfect pink hue tinted Flora’s cheeks.

“Have you all known each other long?” Flora’s shoulders relaxed as she spoke, the conversation distracting her from her fear of flying.

“Draven and I have been best friends since we were pups. I always knew I’d be his second, even if it took some time to convince the boss over here.” He nodded his head in Draven’s direction. “Mateo joined the mayhem our first year at boarding school.”

Flora turned to look at him, disbelief etched across her features. “Youwent to boarding school?”

“L’habit ne fait pas le moine.” The language of love rolled off his tongue, and he savored the way Flora’s mouth parted almost as if she was impressed. “It means don’t judge a book by its cover.”

Flora smiled and shook her head, a soft chuckle escaping her lips. “You three are nothing like I expected.”

Mateo reached across the aisle over Draven and took Flora’s hand in his. He pulled her hand toward him, and Flora stretched across Draven, her breasts pushing into his crotch. Draven bit back a groan as Mateo brought Flora’s hand to his lips and placed a gentle kiss on the back. “We’ll keep surprising you, I have no doubt.”

A growl rumbled from Draven’s chest causing Mateo to quickly drop Flora’s hand, and Flora to scramble back into her seat. He arched his brow at Draven questioningly, but said nothing. Kade shook his head and looked out the window. His friends weren’t stupid. They may not have known before the plane ride where he stood with Flora, but he had no doubt they did then.

Thankfully, Flora still had no clue. A smile tugged at her lips, which he desperately wanted to punish with his own, but was interrupted by a gasp when the back wheels of the plane touched down.

“Welcome to Lune,” the pilot announced over the intercom.

Draven didn’t miss the way Flora tensed, and her heartbeat picked up at the pilot's words. It was a blow to the gut that he couldn’t protect her. She wouldn’t let him in, not that he deserved her trust. They hardly knew each other. But with every passing moment it was as if he'd known her his whole life. He wanted to know everything about her. Wanted to understand what made her tick. And that scared the ever loving shit out of him. The only reason he should care about what she was hiding was because it could hurt him and his men, but even he knew that his reasoning went much deeper than that.

It didn’t change the fact though, that Flora needed to come clean about whatever the hell was happening in Lune, and he’d make damn sure she did.
