Her wolf circled in her chest, yipping excitedly. With the stone intact, she’d been given a new life along with every other wolf in the world.

Tears pricked at Flora’s eyes as she was overcome with emotion. Wolves everywhere would know the most sacred part of themselves forever. They wouldn’t be tied to the cycle of the moon that they loved.

Draven pressed his lips to her forehead and trailed light kisses down her nose until she tipped her head back and captured his lips with hers.

“Now, it’s your turn, little Luna,” he murmured against her. “Accept your wolf. Let her take the lead and push to the forefront. She is you and you are her. Embrace what you’ve become.”

Flora nodded.

Drunk bees took flight in her stomach as she stepped out of Draven’s embrace and focused on her wolf’s presence. It amazed her, the way she started where Flora stopped and vice versa.

Lead me, Rea, she pleaded, giving her wolf a name, an identity to call upon. She hadn’t been sure, but at that moment it felt right to give her a name.

Rea preened and met Flora where they connected.Let go, she whispered.

Flora closed her eyes and released the part of her that met Rea’s edge. She tumbled toward the back of her mind and embraced the tingles that erupted all over her body. Her pores stretched, allowing thick white fur to fill them. Flora tensed when her first bone cracked. It wasn’t entirely painful, more like an intense vibration that shook her to her core as her body rearranged itself. It was the sound that made her cringe. The snapping and shifting of each bone echoing in her overly sensitive ears. She shrieked in the depths of her mind and fought the need to curl in a ball in the dirt and stick her fingers in her ears. Anything to make it stop.

Her vision tumbled like she was experiencing a bad bout of vertigo, and she couldn’t tell if seconds or minutes passed before it finally all stopped.

Flora blinked her eyes, but it wasn’t her who was in control. It was like looking through eyes that were both hers and not and were a hell of a lot closer to the ground. Shestill shared the same sensations as Rea. Like the dirt under their paws, soft and pliable and the distinct smell of the trees, musky and sweet, tangled with Draven’s potent pine.

“You’re beautiful,” Draven whispered as he knelt in front of her and ran his fingers through the fur on her chest. “So fucking perfect.”

Rea shook out her fur and preened under his loving gaze.

Draven tossed off his furs and in seconds his large black wolf stood in his place. His tail swept slowly side to side as he approached Rea and nuzzled his snout into her neck.

Her wolf let out a sound that could only be described as a loving huff before she turned and gave him a playful nip on his shoulder.

Draven’s wolf let out a warning growl, but Rea wasn’t having any of it, and Flora cheered on her obstinate wolf. It amazed her how they echoed each other's personalities in so many ways.

Let’s show him he can’t growl at us.

Rea let out a yip in agreement and darted off toward the trees, knowing damn well Draven would chase her.

The forest came alive around her. The sound of the stream feeding into the hot spring lapped in the distance and the wildlife scurried out of their path. Flora felt Rea’s instincts take hold, demanding she hunt the small rodents, but Flora urged her to keep running.

Running as a wolf was absolutely breathtaking. She understood why the pack had lived for the full moon, when they could be one with their wolves. She couldn’t wait for them to have the opportunity to run daily if they wanted to.

Draven caught up to her quickly, nipping at her hind legs playfully before running up alongside her. His wolf towered over hers, and where his fur was black as night, hers was white as snow. Flora studied her mate as he ran beside her. Even though he was in his wolf form, she could feel the lightness radiating from him, and she prayed she always got to see him like this, wild and carefree.

They frollicked through the forest, teasing one another with nips and howls. It was perfect. More than perfect, until her wolf got it into her head to poke the big black Alpha.

Flora didn’t think Rea meant she’d literally show him that he couldn’t growl at her, but she shouldn’t’ve been surprised. They were one, and Flora didn’t let Draven get away with treating her as less-than either. Rea ran beside him and when he was distracted, she leapt onto his back, forcing him to stumble. The two of them rolled in the dirt and when they righted themselves, Draven shook off the dirt and narrowed his gaze. He stalked toward her, zig-zagging his path as he approached.

Rea waited until he was nearly to where she stood and lunged at him. She latched onto his ear and dragged it toward the ground.

Draven nipped at her side, not hard enough to break skin but enough to garner a yelp from the smaller wolf. He growled, exerting a wave of Alpha command that demanded she stand down.

Rea stood tall, staring him down, and Flora sensed she wanted to prove herself not only to her mate, but also her Alpha. Because that’s what Draven was.HerAlpha. Regardless of what happened when they returned to Moon Ridge, Rea would only bow to him. She lowered her head and extended her neck, offering him her throat.

Alpha, she thought.

Mine, came the deep-voiced response.

She heard his voice in her head clear as if he’d spoken the words to her.

“Holy shit,”Draven’s disbelief rang through her mind.
