“My partner is taking care of that. I’m going to check on him. You stay here,” and he closed the door, shutting her in the car.

Sadie stared out the window, trying to see what was going on, but a crowd had formed and it was difficult to see. Finally she saw Dave pull up behind her and grabbed for the door handle to get out. But there weren’t any handles on the inside of the door, and the windows were electric and the car had to be running to operate them. She started beating on the window and yelling, trying to get Dave’s attention.

Dave pulled up in front of Sadie’s studio and wondered what was going on. There was a large crowd and he didn’t see Sadie anywhere. Getting out of the car, he started toward the building when he heard pounding and screaming. Seeing Sadie in the back of a dark car, he sprinted toward it. Just as he reached down to open the door, someone hit him in the back of the head and he blacked out.

He came to in a dark room, ta

pe over his mouth, with his hands and ankles tied to a chair. Once his eyes adjusted to the lack of light, he saw Sadie across the room, in a similar situation.

Only there was a man standing to the side of Sadie, and he was rubbing a gun across her cheek and forehead. He was saying something to her, but Dave couldn’t make it out. What the hell was going on? He didn’t want the asshole to know he was awake so he stayed quiet and tried to move as little as possible. He had to figure a way out of this.

Without her knowledge, he and Evan had made sure there were tracking devices in all of Sadie’s clothes, so Evan should be on the way with help by now, he hoped. He didn’t know how long he’d been unconscious or where they were, God he hoped Evan was on the way. He didn’t see any other way out of this right now unless the jerks fucked up somehow.

He couldn’t make out the man’s face, the jerk stayed in the shadows, but he could tell Sadie was crying. God, she must be scared to death. He had to figure a way out of this. Sadie looked his way and he tried to send reassuring thoughts her way with his eyes, but couldn’t tell if she could read him through all her tears.

The jerk turned his way and he quickly slumped in his chair, wanting his captor to think he was still unconscious. He heard footsteps and he was jerked up by his hair. Biting his tongue, he willed himself to stay still and not respond. He could smell the asshole’s fetid breath as he leaned down in Dave’s face and shook him, trying to determine if Dave was awake or not.

After what seemed like several minutes, but was probably only a few seconds, Dave was let go and the jerk walked back to Sadie. Letting his head slump again .Dave tried to look around to determine if there were any others in the room or if it was just the one man that had taken them. Where the fuck was Evan and help? How long had they been missing? Maybe Evan didn’t even know they were missing.

Dave had to figure a way out of this. The asshole was now rubbing the gun all over Sadie’s breasts and pulling her hair, saying something right in her face. She looked terrified. Dave was so mad he would kill the guy if he ever got loose. Fucking bastard! He had to get to Sadie. Twisting his hands, he found a little give in the ropes that bound him. Not caring about the fact that his skin was being rubbed raw, he kept twisting and pulling.

Slumping in his chair again when he saw the jerk heading back his way, he prayed for a way out of this. “Do you want me to kill him, Ms. Sanders? I assure you I will. He means nothing to us. Now tell me what I want to know or I promise you that you and Mr. Ewers will not get out of here alive,” the jerk yelled at Sadie as he held the gun to Dave’s head.

“I swear I don’t know what you’re talking about. I swear!” Sadie screamed. “Please don’t hurt him, please just let us go!”

“Not until you tell me what I want to know.” The jerk walked back to Sadie and grabbed her by the hair, jerking her face up and putting the gun to her head.

Dave finally managed to get one hand loose and quickly reached over and undid the other one. He was just getting his legs loose when he heard, “This is the police, you’re surrounded, put down your weapons and come out with your hands up!”

Finally he thought. The jerk looked panicked and looked around for a way out. Apparently saving his own ass was more important than the information he wanted. By now Dave had managed to get both hands and legs free and he jumped up and tackled the guy. The gun went off and Dave was scared to death Sadie had been hit.

The cops and Evan rushed in and soon had everything under control. The man who had kidnapped them was taken into custody and under protest Dave and Sadie were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At the hospital they were both checked out and other than a few bruises, Sadie was fine. Dave, on the other hand, had a concussion and several abrasions. The doctor wanted him admitted for observation, but Dave flatly refused. Sadie and Evan promised that he would not be left alone for the next few days and they were all sent home.

The cops met them at the club to take statements from Dave and Sadie and the real DEA was there also. Sadie told them what had happened while everyone in the room sat quietly and listened.

Taking a deep breath, Sadie started, “After Dave left to get smoothies, I was restless and couldn’t concentrate on painting, so I decided to go out and get some fresh air. I was sitting on the bench people watching when I heard a crash and the glass in my door breaking. This man came up to me and said he was with the DEA and that I needed to sit in his car until it was safe. He put me in the car and walked away, then I saw Dave drive up and when I tried to get out of the car there were no handles on the inside. I started screaming and hitting the window to get Dave’s attention. Then the asshole came up and hit Dave in the back of the head.” Her voice broke at this and she started crying. “He hurt you. The fucking asshole snuck up behind you and hit you in the head with his gun. Fucking coward.”

Sadie was sitting between both Dave and Evan and when she started crying Dave pulled her into his lap and held her tight. Evan rubbed her arms and leaned down to look in her face. He looked intently into her face and quietly said, “You don’t have to go on. We can do this another time if you’re too upset.”

“No,” she said, taking a deep breath. “I just want to get it over with!” Taking a couple calming breaths and looking up into Dave’s eyes, she continued. “He shoved Dave in the car and when I tried to get out, he held a cloth over my face. The next thing I knew, we were in that room and both tied to chairs. I tried to get loose, but couldn’t. He kept asking me where it was. I don’t know what it he was talking about. I don’t have anything that I know of. Nothing I have is of value. But he insisted that I had it and that I was going to tell him where it was or he was going to kill Dave. Then the cops broke in and…you know the rest.” She finished with a rush of air. She then collapsed against Dave’s chest, sobbing.

Evan stood quickly and said, “If there’s anything else you need you can contact us tomorrow. Ms. Sanders and Mr. Ewers need to rest now and this interview is over.” He escorted everyone to the door and one of the security guards showed them out of the club. He then took Sadie from Dave’s arms and carried her to the bathroom where he set her on the counter. He started the Jacuzzi filling and called out to Dave, “Are you coming, man, or do I need to carry your sorry ass in here too, cause I will if I need to!”

Dave stood in the door, a bottle of scotch and three glasses in hand. “Medicine,” was all he said.

“No fucking way!” Sadie exclaimed. “No fucking way I’m drinking that shit. That shit tastes worse than shoe polish smells. Yuck!”

The guys both laughed and Evan asked, “Do you want something else, baby?”

“Tequila, and a lime if you have any.” She giggled.

Glad that Sadie felt like giggling, Evan went to fetch the requested items. Dave walked over to her and setting down the scotch and glasses, leaned an arm on either side of her and took her mouth in a scorching kiss.

“I’m so glad you weren’t hurt. You scared me so bad. We aren’t done talking about this yet, but for now I just need you,” he said against her mouth, licking and sucking on her lips, drinking from the fountain that was her.

Evan took longer than was necessary to get the tequila for Sadie. Giving Dave and Sadie a few minutes alone in the bathroom. After about five minutes, he walked back in the room to find Sadie still sitting on the counter, her legs wrapped around Dave’s waist.
