“Aight, aight,” I sighed, giving her question some real thought before I answered, “I guess since you’ve been back, shit has just been different. Seeing you for the first time after all these years, being around you again. It’s like, even with everything that went down, my soul still recognizes you as my best friend. And the man in me couldn’t just overlook the fact that you’re also attractive as hell now.”
“I’ve always been attractive,” she responded with an arrogant smirk that had me nodding as I told her, “Probably. But you know we weren’t on that before.”
“Yeah, that’s true,” she agreed. “And what you said is true too. I really missed you, Lance.As a friend. And I guess Ijust… I don’t wanna lose you again tryna do whatever this is.”
“So what are you sayin’, Yani?”
“I’msaying… let’s just take our time with this,” she answered, bringing her hands back up to the nape of my neck as she continued, “If it’s meant to be, it’ll be. But I don’t want us to rush into somethin’ that’s only based on lust and sex. I wanna make sure we’re solid, and that we’ll always be solid no matter what happens.”
Honestly, it was relieving to hear that she wasn’t completely nixing the idea of us possibly exploring a romantic relationship since it was starting to feel like that was exactly where she was headed. But really, she just wanted to make sure we did it right. And I could appreciate that since the truth was, I didn’t want to lose her again either.
So with a nod, I responded, “I can respect that.” Though the fact that she was still in my lap made it impossible for me not to mention, “But I also really enjoyed fuckin’ you last night,so…”
“Oh my God...”she groaned, giggling as I told her, “I’m just sayin’. That shit was fire.”
“You’re right. It was,” she agreed, gnawing at the corner of her lip as she looked down at mine and emphasized, “It really, really was.” Then she leaned in for a kiss that had my hands gravitating from her thighs to her ass, squeezing hard enough to make her moan into my mouth as her phone began to buzz on the couch next to us.
Since she ignored it, I did too, my lips moving to her neck as she once again started grinding against my dick. But when her phone went off for a second and then a third time, I stopped to suggest, “You might wanna get that.”
With an annoyed grunt, she reached for her phone to see who was trying to interrupt us, her body tensing up a bit as she said, “It’s my dad. I gotta go.” Then she climbed off of my lap and started fixing her… my…ourclothes, her frantic energy making me feel that shit too as I frowned and asked, “Is everything alright?”
“I don’t know,” she answered as she started making her way to the door. “His text just said that he needs me to come home ASAP.”
“You want me to come with you?”
I was already scanning the area for a pair of shoes to put on when Yani replied, “I appreciate the offer, but nah. Let me see what’s actually going on first.” And with a quick peck to my lips, she was off to do exactly that, leaving me to watch from the porch as she sped out of my driveway.
