She turned to look into Logan’s dark eyes. He seemed sincere. She still didn’t understand why he’d suddenly become attentive when she’d stopped wanting to be with him, but it was interesting.
“Thanks, Logan. You’re a good friend.” She used that term specifically to discourage him. She really wasn’t into him anymore. At least Jonah had cured her of her crush. She didn’t think she’d ever feel a crush on anyone else again. Or feel what she did for Jonah with anyone else.
Logan nudged her with his elbow. “I’ll be whatever you need.”
She smiled at him but really didn’t have anything else to add. She turned to Emily. “I’m glad you could make it out tonight.”
“I need to get out more. Grandma says it isn’t good to only spend time with her.” Emily shrugged and smiled as she tucked some of her blond hair behind her ear. “I just know she won’t be here forever, so I want to make the most of my time with her.”
Lacy thought that was the most Emily had ever said at one time to her. “I get that, but finding friends is important too.”
Emily nodded and took a sip of water. “This is such an amazing accomplishment for you.”
“Thank you.” Lacy smiled and that tinge of heat flooded her face again.
“I also loved what you did with the Timeless perfume campaign.” Emily leaned in and glanced up at the others. “I like that you went for subtle rather than outright sex. It actually seems sexier that way.”
“Jonah helped a lot on that one.” Lacy forced herself to not look over at him. He didn’t want to be with her anymore.
“I’m taking a few classes to up my marketing knowledge.” Emily played with her straw. “It’s slow going because I can only do so much between work and grandma.”
“I didn’t know you were taking classes.”
“I want to be able to contribute more.” Emily smiled. “Morgan has mentioned pulling me in on some of the team projects.”
“That’s good.” Lacy noticed Jonah’s attention shift to someone not at the table. Her heart started thudding in her chest as she recognized the woman coming in for a hug from Jonah.
