I nod my thanks. “How did they take it?”

He sighs. “Not well.”

“Will Infinitum go after them?”

“It’s possible, but unlikely. They don’t like to include civilians. And your friends knowing anything is a long shot.”

“What about my brother?” Henry asks.

“He's staying in Texas. He knows the risks.”

Henry sighs and mumbles a curse under his breath.

Specter looks in the distance. “We need to go.” He bends in front of me, offering a piggyback ride.

“You’ve got to be kidding me.”

“I’m not thrilled about it either, but we’ve got a long way to go. You fall off, you die.”

I grumble and climb onto his back. Henry presses his lips together and steps in front of Specter. Using my shirt, he wraps it around my back and grips it tight.

The world lurches. It takes longer this time. All I can see are flashes of dizzying light. We come to a surprisingly smooth stop, and I drop from his back and lay on the ground. My stomach swirls, but there’s nothing left to throw up. Henry coughs and Specter helps him over to a bench. A steel bottle appears in my vision, blocking out the overhead lights of the underground garage.

“It’s an electrolyte mixture. It will help your stomach,” Specter says. I take small sips of the salty drink as I observe my surroundings. Several cars, trucks, and SUVs sit parked in neat rows. A tank sits near the far wall.

Henry sips from his own bottle while Specter gets a closer look at his wound. “You’re going to need stitches. Raven is better at it than me.”

I move to my feet once the room settles. “What is this place?”

“Welcome to The Bunker,” Specter says.

I nod. “Take me to Liv.”
