"I overheard her talking to her friend about him," he says.

“I’m so sorry, Dad.”

He heaves a resigned sigh. “How are you holding up?” he asks.

I shrug, even though he can’t see it. “Good days and bad. I’ll be fine though. I’m more worried about you right now.”

“I’ll be fine too, honey. Thanks for calling. It does my heart good to hear your voice right now. But I… I gotta get to work. We’ll talk this weekend?”

“Of course. I’m sorry Dad. I love you.”

“Thanks, Livvie. I love you, too. Keep smiling, ok?”

“Ok.”

We hang up and I set the phone on the bed in front of me and stare at it.

“So you had a dream your dad was upset, and it was true?” Dylan asks.

“Yea. He threw a mug against the wall.”

“It’s probably just a coincidence,” he shrugs.

I glance at him. “Yea.” It must be. Right?
