“You need to control yourself or go back to LA. She hasn’t been sitting here pining away for you. She’s moved on like you wanted her to.”

“She can’t move on with him. How are you ok with this?” I search their faces. They must know he’s no good for her.

“Jeremy went to a therapist and got himself sorted. He and Liv are on good terms. They’re not dating. Just friends. And if you want any hope of the same, you need to cut the shit.”

I jam my hands in my hair and groan. “I don’t know how to be just friends.”

“Well, you better figure it out quick. I won’t let you derail the progress she’s made. Plus, she’s not supposed to matter to you anymore. Remember?” Mark says.

Jackson barges into the office. “She’s pissed. What happened?”

Brando tells him and he whistles low. “Whoops, forgot to tell you about that.”

I flatten my lips and he shrugs.

“You sure you can handle this, man?” Brando asks.

“No. I’ve changed my mind.”

The room falls silent as they stare at me and I brace for the blow. Jackson is the first to break. To my surprise, he laughs. “Took you fucking long enough.”

Mark and Brando grin, and I sag in relief. “Just like that?”

Jackson shrugs. “I said some stuff in anger that I didn’t mean. Sue me.”

Brando smiles at him, then faces me, crossing his arms. “So, what’s your plan?”

I grip the back of my neck and sigh. “I’m going to spend time with her on her terms. Remind her of what we had and beg for forgiveness. Ideally, Maddox will find and eliminate the threat by the time she’s ready.”

“And if not?” Mark raises an eyebrow.

“I’ll figure that out as we go. All I know is that I can’t keep going on without her.”

Brando smacks my shoulder and I grunt. “We’ll help anyway we can."

"We've got your back," Jackson says.

The door opens again and Jordy enters. His gaze sweeps around the room and he crosses his arms as he stares at me. He glances at his watch and smiles. "Pay up, assholes," he says and Jackson curses with a laugh.

I shake my head as they exchange money, not at all surprised they made a bet on when I would come around, or that Jordy won.

"I'm sorry I didn't listen to you," I say once they've finished. Their faces turn serious and they nod at me.

"You're just as stubborn as she is. Hope you're ready for a battle," Jordy says.

"I'll do whatever it takes. Do I need to worry about Jeremy?” I ask.

Brando shakes his head no. “She’s over him. But that doesn’t mean you get to dictate who she spends time with. You’ve got a deep hole to dig yourself out of.”

I nod and try to come to grips with the fact that Jeremy is in her life again. I hate it, but getting pissed about it won’t help.

The guys follow me out to the gym. I find Liv with the asshat, using the free weights while they chat. She locks eyes with me for a beat. I flash an apologetic smile. She sighs and returns to her conversation. Jeremy looks between us, his expression contemplative. I glare at him and he looks away. I can accept that Liv wants to spend time with him. But I don’t have to like it.
