Swoon.

But he was right. It was love. It was a physical expression of how we felt, everything we’d been through, and how lucky we were to have made it this far.

“As much as I want to hold you all night, I don’t want to push our luck with the girls finding us.”

I turned my head to the side to see his face and leaned closer to press a chaste kiss to his lips. He wrapped one hand around my neck, not letting me go that quickly, and deepened the kiss.

“I agree. Let’s get cleaned up and go spoon on the couch.”

“Hmm. I like the sound of that. Those thin leggings pressed against my cock all night? You’re going to drive me crazy, honey.”

I wiggled, and his cock slipped out, but I reached forward and squeezed his taut ass. “Come on. How about when your mom comes over in the morning we go grocery shopping, then back to my place to cook a few meals, so Beth has a freezer full of food when she comes home?”

“That’s a fantastic idea. How do you feel about naked cooking?” Simon pushed up on his forearms and stood, walking to the connected bathroom. I propped myself on my elbow and watched him, confident in his nudity and taking in every alabaster inch of his sexy body. He returned a minute later with a washcloth to clean us, then pulled me into his arms and held me against his chest.

We swayed slowly in the bedroom, our cheeks pressed together, and our arms wrapped as close as possible like we were making up for the lost time. And I was reminding myself how good it was with him and how awful it was apart.

“Naked cooking can be arranged, as long as we’re not frying anything,” I said, laying my head on his shoulder and breathing in his scent. “Naked cooking every day if you like. I still can’t believe you put an offer on the Seabee house, Simon.”

He stopped our rocking and put his hands on my face, leaning close so his warm breath caressed my face. The corners of his eyes crinkled as his mouth curved into a smile. “That was a no-brainer, honey. I was broken the second I left the Ball, but I couldn’t turn off how I felt. Even if we couldn’t be together, I wanted a part of you with me—surrounding me. I put in the offer two days later. Tu es l’amour de ma vie.”

I laid my palms over his hands, my eyes glassy, knowing he never stopped loving me, just like I never stopped loving him. My heart knew before I did that he was mine—he’d always be mine. My victory. My ending. My happily ever after.

“Hey, none of that. Come on. Let’s head to the kitchen and I’ll make us gigantic bowls of ice cream.”

“There’s left-over octopus spaghetti in the fridge as well,” I said, sniffing and wiping underneath my eyes. Simon matched the movement, running his thumb across and down my cheek to gather any lingering wetness. “Octopus spaghetti? I’m going to need you to elaborate on that, honey.”

Happiness glowed inside me, bright and burning, like my personal source of warmth and security. “Absolutely. I love you, Simon. So much. You’re my happy ending.”

“You’re the love of my life, Addison. And that house is for you—us. Whenever you’re ready, we’ll christen every room, and I’ll build you a huge fire pit in the backyard so we can relax and you’ll never be cold. This is the beginning of our future, honey, and I couldn’t imagine it with anyone else.”

The feeling wrapped around my chest was so intense it felt like my heart would burst. I felt Simon’s love fill my entire body, the kind of love that made me blush and circulated through my veins. It made my toes curl and my heart pound with the emotions running rampant against my skin. He gave me the kind of love that allowed me to scream away my worries and fears so they would have no way of finding their way back in. The type of love that took my breath away—a calm voice of whispered promises and sweet kindness.

Simon gave me the kind of love I deserved. The love I saw in his eyes reflected how I felt and how I loved him in return. I found him without looking and loved him without trying, fitting in his arms like he was born to hold me. Where I was now was where I belonged—with him.

The End
