Once the truth seeped out, a weight lifted from my shoulders.

Aunt Helena isn’t here for our relationship, but she doesn’t have much of a say, and with what Reid just discovered, I’m sure she’s more focused on that.

Reid and I exchange a sweet look when I walk into the kitchen for breakfast.

“Morning,” I say softly.

“Morning, Cassie,” he replies, giving me a sexy smile and no longer hiding his lust now that the secret is out.

Aunt Helena purses her lips. “I can’t believe this has been happening under my nose the whole time.” She looks across to Genevieve. “Did you know?”

Genevieve clears her throat, humming her favorite tune as she sashays from the kitchen. We underestimated how much the sweet lady knew.

I fill a bowl with some of the oatmeal she boiled, add a bit of sugar, and sit at the table.

“Um, Reid, how about coming to the office with me today?” Aunt Helena suggests. “Sit in on a meeting? You haven’t done that in a while.”

He stirs his oatmeal, not meeting her gaze. “I’m not really in the mood. Sorry.”

She frowns. “That’s all right. Next time.”

Silence swarms us until Genevieve comes waltzing back. “Cassie, there’s a young man at the gate.”

“Who?” Reid blurts, ready to pound on whoever it is.

“Logan Donelly,” Genevieve informs me. “Should I let him in?”

“Yes.” I jump up from the chair, following her from the kitchen with Reid and Aunt Helena trailing me.

I go out the front door as Genevieve presses the button on the device in the passage to open the gates.

A flood of surprise rocks my body as Logan enters the property, carrying a duffle bag.

“Cassie!” He jogs across the stone entrance excitedly.

“Oh my gosh.” I meet him halfway. “Logan.”

Dropping his bag to the ground, he throws his arms around me and lifts me off my feet. “God, I missed you.”

“Missed you too,” I laugh out.

I glance back when Logan sets me down. Reid is seething on the steps, shifting from one leg to the other. Aunt Helena and Genevieve are eyeing us with curiosity.

“Um, come meet everyone.” I lead him over. “Logan, this is Reid, Aunt Helena, and Genevieve.”

“How’s it going?” Logan says nicely, shaking their hands.

He and Reid give each other displeased looks.

I harrumph before asking, “What are you doing here?”

“Well, I told you I’d come,” he says with a sly grin. “I promised I would.”

“Oh,” I drone as the memory pops into my head. I swore I’d make it back in time to drive to college together, and he said he’d get me otherwise.

Wow. Things changed so quickly after falling for my cousin.
