“Did we? I think we should talk about it again.” Her red-stained lips curve into a flirty smile. “Let’s go somewhere private.”

Gosh. It irks me how she’s constantly touching him. Or perhaps I’m only resentful that other girls get the chance to have more intimate contact.

I’m his cousin. That should never be a hindrance. Yet, something is growing inside my body, and I can’t seem to control it.

Everyone’s having a conversation, but it’s hard to focus on anything except staring at Reid and Bristol.

“Let’s dance,” Nichole says, pulling Michelle along. She bumps me. “Coming, Cassie?”

“Yeah.” I straighten from the seat, wanting to avoid Bristol’s flirty pleas to Reid. I’d hate to see him take her back.

The waitress is strutting up as we’re leaving the VIP section. I signal with my finger for her to stop, grab one of the alcoholic drinks, and throw it back, feeling the sting as it slides down my throat.

Setting the empty glass on the tray, I glance back at the area. I flinch when I realize Reid’s watching me with a darkened look in his eyes.

“Let’s go, Cassie,” Michelle says, hauling me into the crowd with them.

They laugh while dancing together to the synth-pop sounds of the Weeknd’s Take My Breath.

I move my hips and raise my hands high.

My body feels hot and cool at the same time. I’m swaying as if on the clouds.

The alcohol must be hitting my system. Perhaps drinking so fast wasn’t the best idea, especially not knowing what I had just consumed.

One minute I’m dancing with the girls, the next, I’m swallowed into a different area, and I don’t see them. I’m unsure if they said something, and I just didn’t hear.

Part of me urges to return to Reid, but the jealous side doesn’t want to witness Bristol being all over him, so I continue dancing and enjoying myself.

My thrill heightens as the song transitions. The music is as exhilarating as the last, pulling me into a hazy state that has me fantasizing I’m with Reid.

Suddenly, the illusion becomes real as hands swathe around my waist, and a firm body presses against mine, moving with me.

I don’t react out of fear. There’s familiarity in the presence. The intensity in his touch. The cologne…

I strongly feel it’s Reid dancing with me, and I’m afraid the moment will end if I turn. So I continue rocking my hips, even grinding my ass against the bulge. It must be the alcohol because I have lost my damn senses. Whatever the case, maybe we could just pretend in this dim club that we aren’t cousins, but something else I’m too frightened to even think.

He tightens his grip on me as I back up harder against him. Moving my curls off my shoulder, his fingers graze my neck, and I shiver at his hot breath and his lips on my skin.

A moan escapes as his teeth graze the spot, and I’m thankful for the loud music to drown out the sound of my obvious arousal.

I close my eyes to savor the moment and the sweet rush inside. It intensifies as one hand trails downward towards my pelvic. I bite my lip, hoping he’ll keep going even if we’re in public. But he stops abruptly, and I’m left with a maddening ache between my thighs.

Everything plunges like a rain of disappointment when he releases me and retreats from my body.

Opening my eyes, I see Michelle and Nichole approaching through the crowd. I turn and search for Reid. He’s nowhere around. He must have taken off to avoid them seeing us like that.

Then a dreadful thought whacks me like a fist. What if it wasn’t Reid? What if I imagined the moment? Eww… What if I was grinding against some random pervert?

“Everything all right?” Nichole asks me, observing my appearance.

I manage a smile and nod. “Yeah. Where’d you two go?”

The sexy look they exchange answers my question. There’s no need for them to say it.

“To the bathroom,” Michelle tells me. “Come on.”

My heart hammers wildly as we walk back to the VIP section. I’m nervous to see Reid after what happened—that’s if it truly happened.
