The guys are chugging shots and goofing off. Bristol and the brunette are giggling as if they’re wasted.

Reid… He’s just sitting there, twirling a drink, features twisted. He looks up at me, but only briefly, dropping his eyes back on the liquid and chugging.

“Guess it’s time to request an Uber,” Michelle says, taking her phone out.

“You good to drive?” Nichole checks.

I nod. “I’m okay. I can drive home.”

“Cool.”

We help the others out of the club and wait on the sidewalk until the ride shows up.

Once everyone takes off, it’s just Reid and me.

He’s been quiet the whole time, and it continues until we reach the car.

“Here,” he says, handing me his keys. He gets in once I collect it, and I walk to the driver’s side, starting the engine the moment I’m behind the wheel.

Reid stares out the window for the drive back to the house, which only builds my nervousness.

As I pull into his spot in the garage minutes later, I ask before he gets out, “Everything all right?”

There’s a delay before he answers, “Yeah.”

We exit and walk through the dark house, pausing at the stairs.

“Goodnight,” Reid says softly.

“Night. I had fun.” Was that the right thing to say after what happened between us on the dancefloor?

Again, it could have been a fantasy.

If not, we both should pretend it never happened. We’re family. It’s so wrong.

Yet a strange force seems to be holding us in place right now, refusing to let us go our separate ways.

“Cassie?” His voice sounds strangled, peppered with blatant torment.

“Yes?” I answer in a near whisper.

I shudder as he closes the gap and wraps his arms around me, hugging me tightly.

It feels good to embrace. So good that I dread the thought of letting go.

I give in to the emotions, inhaling his enthralling scent as I relax in his arms, realizing more than ever that it is the same cologne. He was, in fact, dancing with me tonight.

A low, unsteady breath escapes me as Reid trails his hands up my back. It feels like he’s caressing me, and I swear he’s smelling my hair.

Part of me wants to remain in his arms. Another side is reminding me that what we’re doing is wrong.

Against the strong urge, I break out of the embrace and clear my throat.

“Um, goodnight,” I say again, near breathless.

“Night.” Reid pivots and moseys down the passage. I climb the stairs to my bedroom.

My heart’s galloping wildly, and my body is on fire with a carnal need demanding attention.

I strip out of my clothes and crawl into bed as fast as possible, exhaling in relief as I slide my fingers inside my underwear. I’ll probably burn in hell for touching myself with my cousin on my mind.
