“What?” I mutter even though I already know what he’s confessing.

“I remember everything, Cassie.” Dipping his head, he peers up and stresses, “Everything. I wasn’t drunk. Neither were you.”

My heart’s pounding erratically.

He had a clear mind. He sought me out on the dancefloor, and he touched me.

The intense look in his eyes tells me he’s waiting for my response to decide how to proceed.

We can’t. We’re cousins.

So while he’s being honest, I lie. “I didn’t know I was dancing with you.”

Reid screws up his face, probably recalling how I let him touch me so inappropriately. “What the fuck. Who did you think it was?”

“I don’t know.” I splay my hand with the helmet, adding, “Some guy.”

His jaw hardens. “You fucking dance with random guys like that?” The growl in his voice makes me shudder.

“No. I was under the influence. I wasn’t thinking straight.” I wobble my head. “Whatever the case, let’s just forget what happened.”

His shoulders slump, and he rubs his forehead. “Is that what you want, Cassie?”

“That’s the only thing we should want, Reid.” I let out an awkward laugh. “We’re cousins. Friends. Let’s forget last night and go back to that. Cool?”

Reid swallows hard before nodding. “Yeah. Cool.”

But from the aggressive way he puts on his helmet and climbs onto the bike, I fear he’s not okay with simply forgetting. He gave life to the desire by mentioning our sexual dance, which might have changed things completely.
