Elated cheers roar at the end of the light show, and everyone disperses around the fire, engaging in boisterous chatter or dancing to the pop track.

Despite the crowd, Cassie leans in and sways with me. I’ve been taking it easy, but she’s had at least two cups of alcohol drinks, making her more handsy than ever.

A sexy smile parts her lips as she swoops her arms around my neck.

“Uh, I thought you wanted to keep us a secret from everyone,” I remind with a flick to the group.

Her curls create their own dance at the shake of her head. “I’m tired of hiding it, especially around our peers.”

“I see. In that case…” I lower my head and give her a soft kiss.

She giggles afterward, pressing into me more. “It’s so freeing, not fighting back my feelings.”

“It is, huh.” I tighten my grip on her. “If only we could be open like this with Mom and your parents.”

“In time,” she says with certainty and continues dancing slowly with me.

From the blaze of the fire, I can make out the sexual haze misting her features. “Reid, let’s go to the car.”

A growl leaves my throat. “Sure.”

Holding my hand, Cassie hauls me along as she struts up the beach to the parking area.

We start making out the second we reach my car. I open the driver’s side to get in, and Cassie climbs over, grinding on me as we continue the hungry kissing.

She caresses my neck, then starts to tug at my shirt. “I want you,” she rasps, rifling with my belt.

“I want you, too.” I stop her hands. “But when you’re sober. You’ve been drinking.”

“Not a lot,” she says with a needy whimper that stirs a maddening ache for her. “Please…Reid, I want to feel you.” As she swipes her tongue over my lips and trails down my throat, the emotions become even harder to control.

Cassie drives in again for more hungry kissing while rubbing my hard bulge.

“Uhh…” I want her badly, but no way will her first time be in the car. Regretfully, I grasp her hands and break the kiss, saying, “When you’re sober. I need you to have a clear and certain mind.”

Groaning in defeat, she presses her forehead against mine, letting me hold her for a bit before she climbs over to the passenger side.

Just as I start the car to leave, my phone vibrates in my pocket. I pull it out, scowling at the unknown number.

“Hello?” I answer like a question.

A gruff sound comes through before the familiar voice. “Reid…”

“Barry?”

“Uh, I’m sorry about this, but could you please pick me up?”

I cringe. “Pick you up where?”

He harrumphs before answering. “I need you to bail me out.”

Barry pops Tylenol into his mouth and chugs damn near all the water. Setting the bottle on the table, he flops back in the bed and rubs his forehead.

I drop down in the chair across from him, only to shoot up seconds after. I’m so riled up that I can’t keep still.

“I know you’re disappointed,” he grates, looking at me.
